Battlefield 3 won't launch on windows 10 steam version. [Offline and Online]

To whom it may concern,

I've just purchased Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1 on Steam recently. I tried to try out some servers and to my surprise I was not able to launch Battlefield.exe at all! Why is that happening? I payed for those 3 games, my steam login is 'kiryu70' and my Origin ID email is [edit: email address removed] - on this account I activated all Battlefield games.

I am extremely frustrated because firstly, I expected that after so many years you would change this uneffective 'battlelog' into a normal in-game window! I will be honest with you - game is outstanding BUT the way it works is NOT ACCEPTABLE. Just compare 'Call of Duty' series which does not have such problems. I remember that I also had these problems in the past but I somehow figured it out then. This time, unfortunately, I ran out of options what to do.

I'm really well acquainted with computers so I tried disabling firewal, changed folder name, ran it as administrator with compatibility with Windows 7 (I'm running on Windows 10 64 bit). My PC is really strong compared to the minimum requirements because I have Dell XPS 15 9560, 16 GB of RAM DDR4, NVidia GTX 1050, CPU Intel Core i7 7700HQ so it's not my computer's fault. I also cleared my cache and reset all settings to default ones. No change at all. ☹️

I attach the screenshot below. When I click on play campaign or join any server it just loads and loads and nothing happens. Origin is up-to-date, downloaded from EA website, steam is up-to-date, I have a strong internet connection and updated all drivers including GPU drivers.

Summing up, I tried everything under this link: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-3/Tutorials-Game-not-Launching-Game-Not-Loading-etc/td-p/110706 and I'm still unable to launch the game. If nobody from EA responds, I will be forced to request full refund for the game purchased on Steam. Seriously, EA, it's 2021 and you still haven't fixed this whole thing with Battlelog so far, shame on you! Just for your information - BF 4 works just fine and no problems at all! With BF3 I'm stuck with 'Initializing' process...

I expect your full support and help to figure it out at your earliest convenience.

Regards,

  • @luklas1997 I understand how frustrating this can be as it's happened to me. These two solutions have worked for me in the past when BF3 wouldn't launch via Steam:
Go to C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License and delete the file/s there then start the game. The game will create new ones and then it will work. This happens to me every time I have a windows update.

If that doesn't work try this:
Close Origin and all Origin processes in the task manager
Hold the Windows key + R.
In the command box that opens, type %ProgramData%/Origin then click OK.
Delete all the files and folders inside it except for LocalContent
Inside of the LocalContent folder delete the Battlefield 3 folder.
Next open Origin, allow Battlefield 3 to update, then log into Battlelog and join a server and you should be good to go.

Unfortunately, this still didn't help. I used practically all the troubleshooting I could try. ☹️

i have had this issue before. as bf3 launches into the battlelog website I don't think you can play offline. In addition make sure you have origin installed. open steam and run bf3 it should also run origin. after that it will open battlelog. from there you just have to go to the server browser if you want to play multiplayer and join a server. if you have issues joining/playing try downloading or updating punkbuster.

  • I ended up only deleting Battlefield 3 folder under the local folder as mentioned above. That did not seem to work but I noticed on the left of the screen that my cookies were being blocked. I accepted the cookies for EA and the game worked!! Check and see if that works for you guys.

First option you mentioned worked for me ragnarok013! Thanks so much mate! This was doing my head in for hours! Played this game over a year ago and loved it.

  • I might be late but please download Chrome or Open Chrome if you don't have it , chrome://flags/  copy paste this link and on top search for Native Client  , Enable it and close chrome and reopen it , go to battlelog and run into a server
