Can't get past EA logon to play Battlefield V on Xbox One (have a Live Gold)!

I've read through existing threads and searched EA help for answers. But I'm not finding help with playing BF5 on xbox.

We have Xbox Live Gold, bought BF5 disc, and have an EA account profile. However, when trying to play the game, it stalls at EA log in and simply says, "We cannot complete this action at this time." Screenshot attached.

I'm assuming that we don't have to pay EA, since we have the game. But, given that we have Xbox Live Gold and an EA profile, I don't understand why it won't let us play, or get past the EA logon! HELP!
