Hi. Am I missing some way to change the language? At the audio menu it seems locked and I cant change it to english. I'm from Brazil, so for now its in Portuguese. Thanks.
Hey guys, I'm French, my Origin is in English, and my audio in BFH is in English too, I'm happy with that, but I would like to have the subtitles of the campaign in French if possible, cause right now, I activated the subtitles for the campaign, but they are also in English...
I really don't know why in 2015 options like this are not directly available, like activating subtitles inside the in-game menu, and choosing there from a list which subtitles language we want.
As for the audio, I understand downloading of all them increase game size, but why not doing like Steam, having inside Origin a menu for each game where we can choose one language to install.
Having the choice to set up independent settings for audio language and subtitles is very important and shouldn't be that restrictive or messy. It should be as simple as a DVD or Blu-ray, go inside menu and choose which available language and which available subtitles we want.
So, is there a workaround to have the game in English with campaign subtitles in French?
If yes, how?
Thanks for the answer EA_François, it is really a shame that it works like that, it really makes no sense.
If you can, report this behaviour to the developers, so that in future updates or for their next games, we no longer encounter such stupid things.
Because the way people are enjoying Movies and TV Series today, is by watching them in the Original language with subtitles in their native language.
Since BFH claims to be inspired by TV Series and Movies, and since it's starring famous TV Series actors like Benito Martinez, we should be able to enjoy their original voices with the subtitles in our native languages.
Subtitles are tiny text files, there is no size issues including them all during the installation of the game.
And even if publishers want to restrict that to avoid people buying the game from a different country than their own, the game should always have this minimum (if the developers created them in the first place):
This is the minimum. Because if developers took the time to create some voice over and some subtitles and some menus translation, it's a huge waste to not be able to choose them like we want! It really make no sense!
Buying a game 120 € (!!!), and not being able to have French subtitles, for a game claiming to be inspired by modern TV Series, it's a huge step back of 18 years where there was only VHS Tapes and no DVD/Blu-ray!
Please report this issue to EA, DICE and Visceral.
Thank you kindly.
I'm also very unhappy with that, I own the german version of the game. In Battlefield 3 and 4 the "speech" language in game could be changed to english through the main menu and otherwise the complete language could be changed by the registry. As said here in Hardline it is not possible. I really don't understand why this is. Please EA do something!

Just to let you know it is possible to have double language installed with one language audio and an other for subtitle, even if it looks like a bug on my side.
What I did is change Origin to English language (base is French).
Then Exit it.
In the local folder, copy all the audio files that should begin with your language tag.
Create a new folder named (TempBackup for example) in that same place and past those files in it.
So you're local folder should have only your new folder in it.
Go back and rename your bg exe file with something like .BACK at the end so that when checking for updates, origin download the right executable.
Now restart origin. If still not in english (was my case), change again the language of Origin and restart it.
Now that origin is in the language of your choice, update BFH and you should see the new language files downloading.
Now, in my case, and that's where it is probably a bug, I couldn't load the game with only the English language files.
My region allows pretty much all EU languages, so it is not a restriction. Looks like the game kept blocking on my French language settings.
As those language files where no more in place (remember, moved in the backup folder) the game throw an error.
Now, here is the interesting thing.
Go back in local folder and then in the Backup folder.
Copy or Cut all the audio files and put them back in the local folder with the EN language files.
Restart the game.
It is working 😉
Go in option, change the language (you can now switch between your native language and English.
Game is still in native language so will the subtitle be.
All in all it is working like that on my side. Dunno if it's kind of a weird bug or if intended but as long as you have the correct language files, you should be able to switch to those audio in game I suppose.
