Hey there. I've been playing Battlefield 4 on PC for a while now, and it usually runs smooth. However, when I jumped in both yesterday and today, every single server was extremely laggy, and not just for me. People in chat complained about the same issue. When I first start the game, it shows the servers as having different ping, some good, some bad. After I quit out of a game yesterday though, the servers all showed terrible ping, every single one. I haven't found anyone complaining about this, which is weird, because both my friend who was playing with me and the people in chat had the same problem. Is this because of a bunch of new players after the Steam sale and the 2042-announcement? Are the player numbers over loading the servers? I don't suppose there's any chance of EA getting off their * and fixing the issue if that's the case...The only other explanation would be if I single-handedly was causing the lag in these servers, but that's not possible, is it? Especially considering that I'm pretty sure I've played BF4 on this connection before with no issues.Anyway, if anyone else is experiencing this or knows why it's happening, let me know.

@EA_AljoCan you please explain why this thread has gone stale/cold while the issue clearly exists for multiple users across multiple regions?- As already pointed out, Its not player/latency/clientside related.. But there is something i can add to it..- Its random/does not effect every player..- Its most noticible in vehicles- Servers do not show any excess cpu/memory/bandwidth usage- Running a server as Vanilla with no procon layer = makes no difference(personally tested)- Restricting players only to that region (i retricted CountryCode to AU & NZ only... same deal) - all pings averaged well below what they did before the issue occured.- Also... a game that is getting close to 10 years old.. having internet issues... (thats rare and few & people notice its their connection quickly)The issue only occured about 5 days ago for others and mysellf in our region AU.For all we know it could be DOS or similar but most hosts/providers are unable to or willing to monitor network traffic and help fault find.As for me, i still rarely get it and only when in vehicles late at night during peak hour.- it feels like an in-between service slowing the traffic/data from a player to the server, a recent update thats rolling out (if any was done to the client/game) or something like excessive logging possibly?- Player count can effect it, but thats possibly the cause/problem with what ever is getting overloaded can not handle it.

Zero package loss.And then from time to time, the server suddenly freezes. for maybe 45 seconds to 2 minutes. And then it then typically drops all players off within a few seconds. Or it drops most players off, but leaves exact 20 players on the game, who then can continue after that frozen period.Interesting observation from the server hosting company and me: We have perfect line conditions all the time! Perfect consistent low latency. Zero package loss! And the server hosting company also insist that the server instance is running as it should! So they also point towards the real root cause is somewhere between EA backend and the server hosting entities. And with a potential mix of inadequacy/shortcomings in the server side application software they run for EA... I have logged the support request to EA many weeks back. Included all the log files made together with the server hosting company.And with detailed logging of all the many date/timestamps on when the server was crashing like this.And zero reply/help has been provided. (except the hilarious: Have you tried to reboot your modem?)Its time for EA to recon that there is a serious problem on the server back-end and that it is not on the client side.

One thing I have noticed is that there are a lot more people trying to get into the servers - or there are fewer servers with the same amount of people.Additionally, my internet is fine, I can surf the web and other games are fine with no lag. My job is networking and filtering and to me this looks like an issue on your side.

Hi there, @FredricMourath.

We should go through some connection troubleshooting to try to find out why this is happening. Let's start with the basics. First, I'd like you to power cycle your equipment with the following steps: unplug your modem and router. Also, shut down your PC. After 2 minutes plug in the modem and router. Let them come back online completely. Start up your PC and try playing again. Let me know if that helps or not. Thanks!

I have same issue, happens on every server,
30 ping, 200 fps.
Resting router / pc didn't help
also everyone in chat complains about it too
no lag in other games

Thanks for letting me know. I'm looking into this and will update when I have more information.

Edit: We're not aware of any issues currently so we'll need to continue with troubleshooting. Could you both run a UO Trace for me and take a screenshot of the results? Instructions are here.

I can confirm the same for myself. The day before yesterday the servers were bad, yesterday started out ok then got bad and today did the same. I was just on a full server when there was a massive lag spike. After that we went from a full 64 player server to 15 players. Within minutes there was annother lag spike and I got disconnected.
Over the last days the chat has been complaining about the lag on all the servers I have been on so it's not just a few people.
Additionally, some of my favourites have disappeared as if the servers have become unavailable.
Are you being DDoS'd or something?

I have same issue with BF4. It doesnt matter which server I join, I m getting server lag. Others in game chat are also reporting this problem. Btw I m in EU region, PC platform.
