Is your PS4 updated with the latest system software and have you tried to link your console with a cabled internet connection rather than wireless?
Please keep in mind that our servers are heavily loaded as many players downloading the game right now.
Cheers
Basti
Dear Bastian,
Yes, I have the latest system software plus I always use cabled connection (through LAN cable) instead of wireless. My game download was relatively fast, but this "install" (or download) is way way too slow. Can I speed it up in any way?
My PSID is "silverriot". And additionally, my friend - PSD "spetz0000" - yesterday he just downloaded the game and this morning (both US accounts) he could play it instantly, he did not have the installation that I now wait for.
Best,

There is unfortunately not much we can do if the general install is taking longer as usual. You can try to reset your console or to delete cancel and resume the install but that could mean that you need to install the game from the scratch. again. The general installation process should not take hours though.
To reset your console or to rebuild your console data base, you need to enter the PS4 safety mode. To restart or update the system as well as rebuilding the database could do the trick:
Starting the PS4 in Safe Mode
- Turn off the PlayStation 4 by pressing the power button on the front panel. The power indicator will blink for a few moments before turning off.
- Once the PlayStation 4 is off, press and hold the power button. Release it after you've heard two beeps: one when you initially press, and another 7 seconds later.
- Connect the DualShock 4 controller with the provided USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.
Safe Mode Options
The following options are available in Safe Mode:
- Restart System - Ends Safe Mode and restarts the PlayStation 4 normally.
- Update System Software - Allows the PlayStation 4 to update the system software via Internet, USB Drive, or Disc.
- Rebuild Database - Scans the drive and creates a new database of all content.
This operation may take a long time depending on the type and number of data items.

Thanks for the answer, but one more question, I've downloaded the 40GB part plus the update, now I'm in the game (I could play the prologue), everything else is at 50% (when I posted this topic). How do I cancel the download, there isn't an option and it isn't visible in the playstation downloads. Is the game actually DOWNLOADING something in addition to 40GB game download via the game or what?

Resetting the console via the safemode should cancel and resume the installation process, have you tried it yet?

I have figured out the problem. The solution is simple: Plug PS4 into ethernet connection (if available) and put the PS4 into rest mode. That will speed up the download process which was slickly labeled as "installation" by the developer. That obvious mislead shows that the slow "install" was anticipated and acknowledged by the developer with knowledge that the average PS4 user will play other games or use apps whilst waiting for an expected install which is normally quick after download. My PS4 has sped up significantly since I plugged it to the router and put it in rest mode. I see now after viewing information on the battlefield app that I was not waiting for installation, I was actually waiting for a slow download hidden in the background. The simple thing that should have been stated is what to actually do to speed up the download instead of misleading statements. Furthermore, I have noticed that the old posts are being showed on the first pages of this site which seems a little shady in light of the fact that EA is the developer of the game and offered a ridiculous solution to the problem that was apparently foreseeable because the download is being hidden with a stupid suggestion to check out a battle log that won't substitute for HOURS of waiting.

The advice Basti at EA is giving is completely incorrect.
The issue is that the game downloads 6gb of data allowing the game to load and the first episode of single player to be played.
A further 38gb of data is then downloaded.
Restarting the PS4 in safe mode and rebuilding the database will do nothing to speed up the rate at which the data is downloading. I think the point has been missed by Basti. The game is downloading incredibly slowly. Not installing incredibly slowly.
IN CONCLUSION THE ADVICE BASTI AT EA HAS PROVIDED IS COMPLETELY INCORRECT
Click options on the Battlefield Hardline icon and select "information" this shows the amount data downloaded in the "download status section"
I have a 10mb connection. The Playstation Network test gives this speed. 1GB of data takes approx 15 minutes on my PC.
The whole game should download in approximately 11 hours.
I am on day 3 of downloading, I am at 24gb/46gb of data!!!! For me this is going to be a 1 WEEK LONG DOWNLOAD!
