Installing expansion packs to the origin version of Battlefield 1942

I recently downloaded the free download of Battlefield 1942, and attempted to install a copy of Secret Weapons (one of the two expansion packs) along with it. Unfortunately, the expansion pack installer said that it couldn't detect a copy of Battlefield 1942 on my computer, and it didn't work. I was wondering how I can install my copy of Secret Weapons.
