Kernelbase.dll crash

Haven't seen any issues with this, however I can't seem to complete Single Player, as during the credits it crashes with:

Faulting application name: bf4.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x526b9042
Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.1.7601.18229, time stamp: 0x51fb1677
Exception code: 0x887a0006
Fault offset: 0x000000000000940d
Faulting process id: 0x19b0
Faulting application start time: 0x01ced80ef50bb1f1
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4\bf4.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\KERNELBASE.dll
Report Id: 69b7db21-4405-11e3-a422-74d02b29ebb9

Multiplayer also sometimes crashes with Kernelbase.dll error, however not as often.

Any ideas?

This is a system file that will have any corruption fixed by running System File Checker: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

Running SFC does not guarantee the crash will not happen, but it will ensure it is not because the file is corrupted.

  • It's quite amusing to see that EA support doesn't take this issue seriously when many are reporting this problem.

The error shows that somehow the BF4 and kernelbase.dll is causing this and that there is a connection between them.

Maybe instead of doing a blamegame make the developer create a debug tool to fetch what the casue is and that runs

    in the background while playing.

I have this error reported in the Win 7 Eventlog (Application log) but the error message I get in the popup is a different story.

    The message is:

"DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The application's device

failed due to badly formed commands sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that should be investigated

and fixed.") GPU; "NVIDIA GeForce GTX680", Driver; 33221"

To get out of this I have to start task manager and kill the DirectX error process and right after BF4 shuts down.

To point out I'm on a new fresh install of windows 7, on a water cooled system so I do not have any heating issues.

I have also reinstalled BF4, VC and Direct X as recomendation from others but I still get this errors.

So EA please make this issue a prio otherwise I will claim a full refund.

One other notice never had this on the older versions of BF so this is something that was brought in with BF4

FYI : System File Checker came out clean so it's something else!!

I am having the exact same issues. I noticed that all the other people having this issue have nVidia cards.

    Leaves me with 2 things.

    1) EA said **bleep** all of you with nVidia cards and will not resolve

    or

    2) nVidia said **bleep** all of you, we do not know how to fix our own **bleep** with this **bleep** game and their coding...

Far as I am concerned it is both. Bf4 patches, nVidia driver updates have ALL FAILED to fix this issue.

  • 2014-08-11 - all the patches, premium player with all the latest drives. No other game gives me problems - BF4 crashes regulary, love the game but honestly not enjoying it anymore. Crashes far too frequent STILL - and now they want us to buy their new one? Forget it EA / DICE - fix this.

So you get the Kernel issue, fix it, and then resurrect it's ancient old thread because you have a completely separate issue? A seperate issue where you don't even mention the entire error message?

    Seems illogical.

Anyways, I would suggest you create a new thread once you looked at all the threads in here that's about your current issue and have looked at http://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-Hardline/READ-FIRST-Before-you-create-a-post-about-a-technical-issue/m-p/4390445#U4390445 to see what type of information you should provide when you want help with a technical issue. Then it will be much easier to help you 🙂
