More software flagged by the new anticheat

So there I was, wanting to play a match or two of 2042. After 2 weeks of dealing with the brand new EA Javelin Anticheat flagging AutoHotKey, I was already sort of done with the game, but lo and behold, a new issue is on the horizon.

This time, the anticheat decides to pick on, presumably, Daemon Tools software by Disc Soft LTD (as seen in the attached screenshot). This means I cannot launch the game whatsoever, even with the workaround mentioned in the AutoHotKey post from a few weeks ago

BF1 thinking AutoHotKey is running | EA Forums - 12163902

I have used both of the above-mentioned programs for years alongside many online games, and there is little to no reason for them to be preventing me from playing really any game.

I am going to be honest, I can't be bothered to spend an hour on chat with support only to not solve anything, but I've still wanted to raise this issue, at least in this way

  • Hello P0kys,

As long as the program is interfering with your game files, you won’t be able to launch the game. The detection of certain programs from the anti-cheat system is governed by EA's policy, there's not much that can be done in that regard.

This is a BS "solution". Daemon tools isn't "interfering with your game files". It's a simple disc image mounting software that happens to be running so that you can right click on a backup disc image and mount it. I've also been using it for decades with no issues until now. Soon you won't be able to run any useful programs on PC without Javelin flagging them as a potential cheat.

Pure guess as I don't know for definite, but I don't think it's outside the realms of possibility that Daemon Tools might have been added since it can be used to play cracked games, as well as legitimate use. Assuming they haven't stopped that over the years that I haven't been a PC gamer, of course.

That's stupid. Following your logic, Windows OS should be flagged to? It's also used to play pirated games

Ok, so we've got two corporations beefing with each other and innocent users of both of their products get caught up in the cross-fire. Seems very 2025.

The hilarious thing is that even software like FIFA 23 (which is having the online function shut down shortly) is collateral damage to this corporate flame war. As a father that has to explain to his son why he can't play his offline season of FIFA 23 this is highly upsetting but honestly not surprising.
