I've had this happen aswell, and sadly the best fix i've found is avoid short pressing the menu button to view the scoreboards long hold the menu button. I hope this helps!
Yeah that's what I do now, but sometimes I forget. The other day I had just spawned and everybody in my squad left so I thought well I'm at my spawn I'll just quickly join a squad, pressed the button and then realised my mistake.
