[PS3/Xbox 360] Stinger missing in [Campaign] Rock and a Hard Place

Heya everyone,

We thank funhomeboy and rav3ndk for their effort finding a solution for this issue, please feel free to give them XP! We would like to share the workarounds for PS3/Xbox 360 with you in case you are unable to see the stinger missile during the mission ‘A Rock and a Hard Place’.

PS3:

  1. Disconnect from the internet completely
  2. Delete Game Data Utility for Battlefield 3
  3. Restart the console
  4. Launch Battlefield 3, install the update from disc (!), go to Campaign, select Replay Missions and select => ‘A Rock and a Hard Place’ (Please note that you will have to play the level from the beginning)
  5. Once the level is completed, you can reconnect to the internet and re-download all of the updates


Xbox 360:

  1. Go to System Settings -> Storage -> HD -> Battlefield 3 -> delete Mutiplayer Update 5
  2. Launch Battlefield 3 and continue your game, the Stinger Missile should now be there.
  3. Once you have completed the level 'A Rock and a Hard Place', you can go back and re-download Multiplayer Update 5

Hi all,

 

We have now fixed the bug in single player where you couldn’t pick up the Stinger in mission 10. Patches were rolled out on all platforms in all regions. On console, these updates are automatic and mandatory. Full details below:

 

PS3 client patch
Delivery:
Mandatory automatic update when you start the game

Fixes:
* SDTV input lag
* Game breaking SP bug in mission 10 (picking up the Stinger)

 

Xbox 360 client patch
Delivery:
Mandatory automatic update when you start the game

Fixes:
* Game breaking SP bug in mission 10 (picking up the Stinger)

 

PC client patch
Delivery:
Origin client auto update if you have not un-checked “Keep my games up to date” (in which case you need to tell the Origin client to check for latest update for BF3)

Fixes:
* Game breaking SP bug in mission 10 (picking up the Stinger)
* Additionally fixes bug where world would end on Dec 21

    This was the reply I got back after reporting it, but the suggestion didn't work one iota:

    We will try to assist you with your issue. To work in your issue, we have found some useful steps for your issue, please try to perform below listed steps:

    1. Clear Cache PS 3
    There might be some corrupt files on your system. Let us try to delete these files by following the steps below:

    1. Press the PS button on the controller to enter the PLAYSTATION 3 XBM (XrossMediaBar).
    2. Select the Game tab.
    3. Select the Game Data Utility and press the X button.
    4. Select your game.
    5. Find and delete all the files listed.

    2. Restart console and then try to download the multiplayer patch 5 in your game and then check your game.

    Hopefully, these steps will help you with your game-play issue also.

    Yeah ok. Nice work. I use 3.5gb of bandwidth in as many days on updates to find it's introduced a game breaking glitch (Stinger not spawning in "between a rock and a hard place").

    So I delete the game data, reinstall the game and now the game crashes when loading the level.

    I'm pretty sure the idea of updates isn't to literally break the entire game... Yeah?

    So Is there a fix coming for this or should I just take the game back?

    Hi

    I cant get to the stinger missile in between a rock and a hard place.

    when i reach it its not there. iv tried to restart the mission and every thing

    but every time i get there its not there!

    I am trying to complete the mission Rock and A Hard Place.  When I get to the bridge where the stinger missile is suppose to be - it's not there.  What is the fix for the glitch?

    There are more people experencing the same problem. The latest patch caused this bug. What platform are you playing on? Deleting the latest patch will fix this problem, but keep in mind that you need the patch to go online for the multiplayer mode.

    Thanks for the response.  I am on the PS3 Platform.  I deleted the file under Game Data Utility, but the game requires the 1.07 patch to even start the game.  Any further help is greatly appreciated.

    No No.... I got this EA. Dont worry yourselves. Just go back to reading reviews of Warfighter.

    Anyway, if you're here you know whats wrong, and the simple fix is to delete the BF3 game data from the XMB, open BF3, resume campaign and then choose a previous mission/A rock and a hard place. Stinger will be there when you get back.

    playing threw the campaign (Really buggy)  And i get to the "rock and a hard place" mission.  when your on the bridge they tell you to get the stinger!  i go to the stinger spawn locaton but its not their.  I cant beat this mission without that stinger...  So now i cant beat the campaign! (XBOX)
