Re: Battlefield 3, BOUGHT via Steam or EA app, Keeps Asking For A Product Key

I already uninstall the game, this has happened before with some other titles purchased through Steam but made by you guys, this happened with Crysis and with Battlefield Bad Company 2. I was able to contact support on those occasions and they simply asked for a proof of payment and purchased through the Steam platform and added the same game but on Origin. Not sure why gathering logs and error codes should fix this.

Hello EA I hope I'm not annoying but I would love to play BF3 and I would like you to give a quick solution since it's not recently that this error has been occurring (it's been almost a month since the first post) and also I don't see a reason why that information they ask for can be used to solve the problem.

I saw in another post (and on twitter) how through a series of steps you can have Origin functional and through this you can play the game purchased on Steam. In that case I would say that it is even an EA App bug or something even worse, so try to fix it.

@TidySnake, wouldn't it be amazing if there was a magical "Fix All" button to solve every fan's issue at once? 🙂 But, alas, such things sadly don't exist, and proper investigation is necessary. If fans can't provide the requested information, it might slow down the investigation, and we might not be able to find a solution as quickly as we'd hope.

I don't want to advertise VU (Venice Unleashed) here and I would have preferred it if EA had solved this problem on its own in the period of more than a month now. But they didn't and once again you could only hope and in this case count on the community. VU is a launcher similar to Northstar for Titanfall 2. Only with VU nothing is changed in the game itself and you can still start it without VU. You can even launch it from the EA app and from Steam just like the desktop shortcut. Unfortunately, it is not enough to just install the VU client to fix the activation error. In order to finally get rid of this, you have to start the VU client once with your EA user data in the "launch arguments" behind the .exe - in the link. Here is the point where everyone has to consider whether to enter them there. I reluctantly did it to try. It works and Battlefield 3 runs as described above.

EA app is in a running state. When I start the Battlefield 3 EA app tries to start again, it turns out the EA app starts 2 times. you can see it in the screenshot

We are not "fans" we are paying customers. EA has our money but has failed to deliver the product which was paid for. If 1000 people bought a washing machine that failed to wash, there would be a product recall and the manufacturer would be required to fix the issue. It is not up to customers to do the investigation for your business.

this is not fair. we own the game we have all the updates and all the latest drivers.

what does this crap keep happening? why do we have to try 3rd party fixes, remove code, remove this, remove that? this is just a pain in the.. and I can't express my frustration enough.

how many months do we have to wait...I want to play the game for which I paid for years ago. how is there still a launch problem with a game this old???
