@julianliu0755 Hi, to be clear there are 2 main folders. One is the folder that contains the game, the 47-ish GB of game files. This can be anywhere you like, really, as long as Origin knows that's where its installed. If you've chosen to put it at C:\ that can be perfectly fine.
The other folder is the settings file, this weighs in at a couple of hundred MB. This should always be in your My Documents on your C drive/install drive. I'm not sure why it would be created to a different location. The folder at C:\, what size is it? If you check your My Documents, do you see other games settings folders?
Thanks.
- Anonymous9 years agoEA_David Hi, I found my 2 folders' location, which named "Battlefield 1" the 47 GB of game file folder is located at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1" another one is located at "C:\Battlefield 1", and the folder is 0 bit, there is only a folder inside named "Screenshots", No sight of "Battlefield 1" folder in "Documents", I mean "C:\Users\Administrator\Documents", I run as Administrator. I've repaired the game, but it's still the same. I created a "Battlefield 1" folder at "C:\Users\Administrator\Documents", but the game still run as new.... I forgot to say I run it at Win 7 64-bit, should I run it on other OS like Win 8 or Win 10 ? Thanks

Same issue here. Have BF1 on separate hard drive for space issues and its not loading anything as others have stated. Really frustrating.
Cant find fix. Running as admin didn't work. Repair didn't work and Origin seems to be in working order. Help is appreciated. - EA_David9 years ago

@julianliu0755 Hi, manually creating a folder won't help, the game should be creating the folder when you play.
If a folder is absent the game should create a fresh one from a default template when none is found. This would be created at C:\Users\*Username*\Documents.
If you check this documents folder it should have settings files for some of your games, are any of these present?
Thank you for trying the repair, it seems to be ineffective in helping with this issue. One thing that might be worth trying is to restart with a Clean Boot and temporarilty disable your anti-virus. This is to check if any 3rd party program or security software is preventing the game from writing to the C drive: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ie/kb/929135
Another step would be to try creating a new Windows profile. You can then play the game, and see if the Battlefield 1 folder gets created.

Yo man, are EA going to find a patch for this because its really annoying and a lot of people are having the same issue.
- Anonymous9 years ago
Yeah this is definitely a big bug. Please patch asap!
The game is very frustrating when it constantly re-sets as the original poster put it.
This is my situation if it helps narrow it down;AMD 6300FX with GTX 950 8GB RAM running WIndows 10 Build 1511 (latest)
Administrator account. All permissions allowed full modify.
Solid State Drive (is C:/) Origin is installed here. As well as OS and Majority of apps. Game saves are on cloud setting of Origin.
I checked C/User/XXXX/Documents and there is nothing labeled Origin or Battlefield anywhere. I have other games (From Steam) access this hard drive and write to it no problem.
Hard Drive (is D:/) Game is installed here. All 47 GB of it.
I have this very similar setup working for my Steam (Steam is on C: but Games are on D🙂 so I know its not a problem on my end.
Please advise what to do in the meantime or if you need further information

i dont understand what this bug is even doing its stupid. EA should just fix it and bring the patch out or something. i am on the same kinda setup as you and i still get it.

So being the OP, I thought I should comment on this!
My game is installed on the C:/ - same drive as "my documents". im not sure if its the exact same problem that people are having if the game is installed on a different drive to their OS. (maybe try installing the origin and the game on the OS drive and see if it fixes the problem?).
I fixed my problem of the battlefield1 "my documents" folder not being created (which fixed all the problems I was originally having ingame) by starting origin as administrator (right click on origin desktop shortcut and "run as administrator"); Then right clicking on the desktop battlefield1 shortcut and "run as administrator". If you dont have a desktop shortcut, find the battlefield1.exe in the origin folder and run as administrator from there. Dont directly play battlefield through origin as it wont run as administrator even though origin is running as administrator. Now the battlefield1 folder has been created I can now run the game through origin as normal.
Also, another problem I was having was that I couldnt control and move fixed guns (fixed machine guns and tank guns etc), but I corrected this by disabling the origin ingame overlay.
HTH

Thanks, I tried that but unfortunately it did not work. I might have to combine the game and origin on the same hard drive. It's really odd since this divided setup works for all my other games except this one.
Glad you got it resolved though!

Still having issue. Way past refund window so now im stuck playing a broken game.... with no support. Cmon ea.
I saw in another forum somebody had to copy the Setting folder over to the correct location using a friends functioning copy.
I will try that and let you guys know if it works - Anonymous9 years ago
Log into EA and get in touch with their customer support. This needs to be fixed and highlighted to the devs
Running the game .exe and origin as administrator fixed this issue for me.
I got game on USB drive and it works fine. Battlefield 1 in Documents dir. If your BF settings are in C:\Battlefield 1, no wonder it can't save to it as normal user (non-admin).
