Game-breaking bug - player movement will halt out of nowhere

I have this bug in Battlefield V where my character will all of a sudden stop moving until I repress the keys. This is extremely game breaking as this will happen NUMEROUS times through a match (upwards to 30 times, if not more in a 30 - 40 minute match). It's really random too. I will be running, I'll stop. I'll be revived and I'll run two feet before it happens again. This also happens while turning in a plane, so mouse movements are also affected. I've been dealing with this for at least a month or two now (ever since I started playing BFV again). I was playing BF4 before this with no problems. I play plenty of other games without this problem, as I'd know because the sudden halt of movement is quite jarring and noticeable, so it's definitely not my hardware.

As well as I've Googled this and have found others to have this same problem but in other Battlefield games...

@2042onthemove Well, pressing that key does open the ingame console. So this is intentional and not a bug. 🙂

  • Have you tried remapping any controls recently? I had similar problems when I was adjusting deadzones and toggles - could be as simple as a binding being doubled up on.

Do you happen to have a 3rd party or suped up gaming mouse with extra buttons? I've heard of problems with Battlefield going haywire with peripherals it doesn't exactly support

  • In the heat of battle and the awkwardness of PC keys. Especially in the heat of surviving -- I have hit the tilde (sp?) key by accident.  Even brushing against that key will freeze things up. I have to press the tilde key again, or esc out, RESUME, and etc. to get it activated again.

  • Has anyone found a solution yet?

This is happening to me too. My player stops moving and I need to re-press the W key to keep moving again (My character continues to strafe fine).

Only happens in Battlefield, I have a Corsair K70 Rapidfire Mk2 and Finalmouse Starlight.

Very annoying bug... Makes the game unplayable.

  • It happens because of the overlay, Some one on your friends list is making the notification pop up, Disable the overlay or all the notifications.

Another issue with EA/DICE's perfect development.

Doesnt solve it - origin in game overlay and all notifications turned off. Same with Discord and Radeon Software.

  • Just checked again - I cant disable my Origin in game regardless of my settings... This is incredible lol

@Adittt97 You can disabled it on a game per game basis. Under gamer properties inside Origin.

  • Yeah, tried that didint work. I tried that one before!

I ended up having to delete the origin in game overlay.dll in the origin installer files as a workaround.

    Game works fine now!
