Unable to send chat messages in V, able to do so in BF1 and 2042, any fix?

Hello everyone!

This is my first time sending a question on the BFV forum and I specifically did so to try and get someone to help me solve this issue I have been having in-game.

Per-title, I am unable to send messages in V. I can open up chat and type a message, but when I press ENTER to send, it just doesnt go through. I looked it up and someone said on this forum it might be a filter issue and that I have too many M's in my name. So I change it to 0Maplegum; didnt work, and in-game, people with names such as appleaaaua were able to send messages so I couldnt have been it.

Now the funny part is, I am able to send both chat messages in Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5 without issue using the same name, so whats the problem? And what fix, if there is one, can be implemented to help solve this issue?

Thank you!

  • Hi @ILuvCatsSoMuch ,

usually it's not easy to find out whats causing censoring/suppressing your own messages, the rules are not public.

If it's your username itself, this can usually be verified by someone else trying to type it in chat; if it's replace with ****, you know that's the problem.

I did that, and both your old and your new name are not allowed, so everything you type is not displayed.

(I had the same issue some time ago and had to change my account name after >12 yrs.)

And as it seems, every word  containing "gum" (!) is forbidden (and even the word itself) .

So you will have to choose a name without that word (and best let someone else try to type the new choice first to verify it's allowed this time).

    Good Luck!
