Re: How are we supposed to scout?

@hawksnc10 It shows you their top 10 skills.... so you did the scouting. Now you know that all of their pass catching related skills are lower than a 63 (your two lowest of the top 10 skills). You can make the choice on whether that guys is worth the risk, or maybe is just an O-line developmental project if those catching skills are waaaaaay lower than 63.... but if they are right near there then you may have a developmental 2 way TE.

Either it's a glitch or this is not the correct answer.  The archetypes show the same attributes, ie. Deep threat wr show same attributes, field general show same attributes.  I've had attributes that weren't shown be higher than what was shown.

I really don't know why we need player archetypes? I mean I can see if a guys fast and can't catch or he's a taller slower receiver. It seems redundant and unnecessary. It seems like a reach to align with Madden. Just let us scout the players and let us decide if they fit in our system.

@bmmnguy1 it helps quickly sort pre scout.... think of it like the quickest possible less accurate scouting version of what a scouting service would provide you.... Then if that is the general type of player your looking for you and your staff do your own personal scouting to see if it still matches what you want.... I like it for quaickly sorting and eliminating some prospects. Then you scout to confirm and make decisions.

@hawksnc10 This makes sense..... so it is the top 10 attributes for an archetype. Dissapointing but I guess I can live with that. Weird that any route running or catching attributes aren't in top 10 for blocking TE...... like get rid of all that pass block nonsese so it is strength, speed, run block, impact block, lead block, FRB, PRB, catch, SRR, CIT. This seems like an archetype problem that may need adjusting not a scouting issue.

They should go back to giving us the overall and calling it a day. They tried to get cute with every "new feature" in the game, but all of them have been flawed, glitched, or both.

@hawksnc10 I have to disagree.... as a sim player that focuses on realism I have always HATED the 100% scouting accuracy of high school age children. I want even more fog of war by keeping the attribute reveal range based and not give absolute ratings... let alone the overall rating.

A college coach is going to know a) how fast a prospect is by 40 time. b) if they can catch a ball by scouting them and c) by if they can run a route. You may not know the quote on quote over all but you'll know if they can play. Therefore us having all the ratings beforehand is not unrealistic. Maybe having awareness may be unrealistic but as for their physical and abilities we should be able to see that because that is something observable and something you can scout.

@hawksnc10 I love that! That is such a realistic take on scouting..... there are things that can be absolute like physical athleticism and then the intangibles should be those range based reports.... I dream for this!

That's the thing. You should be able to see the tangible skills. As a coach, you can line up two kids and see if one is head and shoulders above another player when you scout, watch film, etc.  There should be a clear indication that one player is better than the next.
