University of Hawaii Proximity to Home Grade

Summary: When playing as the University of Hawaii in dynasty mode, any prospect outside of Hawaii is rated as a "F" proximity to home grade.  However, if you play as a California school, like USC, prospects from the state of Hawaii have a B+ proximity to home grade for USC.  This should be the same grade going each direction, and when playing as University of Hawaii in dynasty mode, the proximity to home grade should be scaled like every other school based on the proximity of recruiting areas to your school.

Current Behavior: When playing as the University of Hawaii in dynasty mode, any prospect outside of Hawaii is rated as a F proximity to home grade.

Expected Behavior: When playing as University of Hawaii in dynasty mode, the proximity to home grade should be scaled like every other school based on the proximity of recruiting areas to your school, with a suggested mapping of those grades below.

Suggested mapping:
Below is a sourced list of other schools and their proximity to home grade for prospects from Hawaii to use as a baseline as to how Hawaii should be rated for proximity to home relative to different recruiting areas.

I started a dynasty with each of these other schools and looked for prospects from Hawaii with a proximity to home dealbreaker and logged the grade the prospect had relative to the school.  Results below.

Recruiting Area = Grade (Source School)

Hawaii = A+ (Hawaii)
Southern California = B+ (USC)
Northern California = A (Stanford)
Oregon = B- (Oregon)
Washington = C (Washington)
Arizona = C+ (Arizona State)
Nevada = B (UNLV)
Idaho = C+ (Boise State)
Utah = C+ (Utah)
New Mexico = C- (New Mexico)
Colorado = D+ (Colorado)
Wyoming = D+ (Wyoming)
Southwest Texas = D+ (UTEP)
North Texas = F (SMU)
East Texas = F (Houston)

Don't have a school to test with in these states, but suggested based on states around it
Alaska = C
Montana = D

All other states = F

  • This was a thing last year too but never realized proximity to home is not distance based or like # of states away because why would Washington have a lower grade than Nevada, Utah and Idaho and Oregon lower than Nevada. Got me wondering what the formula is for that now.

    Updated this with data from more schools in those areas in the hopes this will get fixed so we can run a Hawaii Dynasty.  To restate the problem, if you play as a school in the list below, Hawaii prospects have normal scaled grades for proximity to home.  Example, a Hawaii prospect playing as Arizona State will be a C+ grade for ASU.  However, if you were to play as Hawaii, a prospect from Tempe, AZ (or anywhere outside of Hawaii) would be rated as a F proximity to home grade.  This should be scaled when playing as University of Hawaii like every other school, with suggested mappings below.

    Recruiting Area = Grade (Source School and what Hawaii prospects proximity to home grade is for them)

    Hawaii = A+ (Hawaii = A+)
    Southern California = B+ (USC/UCLA = B+, SD State = B)
    Northern California = A (Stanford/Cal/SJSU = A)
    Oregon = B- (Oregon/Oregon St = B-)
    Washington = C (Washington/Washington St = C)
    Arizona = C+ (Arizona State = C+, Arizona = C)
    Nevada = B (Nevada = B+, UNLV = B)
    Idaho = C+ (Boise State = C+)
    Utah = C+ (BYU/Utah/Utah State = C+)
    New Mexico = C- (New Mexico/New Mexico State = C-)
    Colorado = D+ (Colorado/Colorado State = D+)
    Wyoming = D+ (Wyoming = D+)
    Southwest Texas = D (UTEP = D+, Texas Tech = D-, UTSA = F)
    North Texas = F (North Texas, SMU, TCU = F)
    East Texas = F (Houston, Rice, Texas A&M = F)

    Don't have a school to test with in these states, but suggested based on states around it
    Alaska = C-
    Montana = D

    All other states = F

  • Please fix, doing Hawaii as a dynasty is not sustainable long term due to the recruiting issues.
