Can't Start the Game.

So this game was one of my favourites growing up. I suddenly remembered the game and downloaded it to play through the EA games app. INow the problem is that (after running the patch as well) the game doesn't start. Just the starting pop up screen shows and than  Generals.exe is not responding.

I would love your help if someone can tell me what I am doing wrong..

I have twice deleted and reinstalled but the same problem is persisting.

Any help would be appreciated
