Fake C&C Product key?

Ok, first off... apologies for this being posted in the wrong forum technically but it is a C&C game 🙂

So yesterday, I purchased Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars Kane Edition from a charity shop (yes I like to support good causes, and they do have some pretty good old pc games sometimes) and it only has the bonus disc (yes I know, I should have checked... but Im happy that Ive helped them even with £1) and the manual.

Now I know that I cannot just install it so got in touch with EA Help via live chat, and eventually I was told that the Product Key is fake?

I offered to send a picture in (I have done so before with Mohaa) to prove that I own said item, but was told that since my product key in invalid that it wouldnt be able to be put in my library for me to play?

Now, I understand that it more than likely wont be able to be installed to my library for the fact that I have the bonus disc only, but to be told that the product key is fake cant be right?

Anyway I hope that someone out there can help me out and even if this isnt added to my library, id like to know that my Key isnt actually fake

Thanks

@NobleExcalibur Hi, I suspect that the "fake" key is due a misunderstanding. I think that this version of the game is from before Origin was widespread, and I'd guess that any bonus codes weren't transferred to newer databases. As it's then undetectable, and there's no base game code, it looks illegitimate on our system.

Unfortunately in this case it looks like we wouldn't be able to change this to a full copy of the game, as the core code can't be checked.
