    @lethwyn Wooah. Trippy.

    The graphics system patch DDWrapper is known to solve a bunch of problems. It might help with this, too.

    Download the zip file and extract "ddraw.dll" and "aqrit.cfg" into your game folder. Then, open the configuration file "aqrit.cfg" in Notepad, change the "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" option to 1, save the file, and launch the game again.

    If you still have problems with RA2 even after this, I advise installing the CnCNet installer for RA2/YR. It comes with a bunch of automatic fixes, and has a configuration tool which offers more choices in graphics fixes than just DDWrapper, so if one doesn't work you can just try if some of the other options do the trick.

I just tried your idea, but I am sad to say it did not work. There was no change. I am going to try various compatibility modes to see if anything helps.

Edit: I jsut tried it any none of them seem to work. I may be changing the setting of the wrong file though, it's hard to see what the executable is when the launcher is seperate. I still changed the settings as per your suggestion to all files I think are executables

Edit2: I am trying to add a screenshot of the game to show every1 what my problem is exactly. I tried to take a screenshot, but for some reason it was not not registering the game as 'on screen' and only took pics of the desktop under it. I decided to upload a picture taken from my phone since it's better than nothing.I think you can see the dimensions of my monitor and the boundaries of the game clearly. Also, the colors are what I am getting. They are not an error from the upload or transfer or whatever. 

Edit 3: the pic seems to be upside down. It is not a problem since I only put it up so yall see what the issue is.

    Alright, I'll try that. I'll have to let you know in a couple days though since on Monday and Tuesday I have classes/work from early morning to late night. I don't have the time to do anything except sleep once I get home 😕 .Don't take my scilence as me not listening to you or anything! I will get back to you on this as I really want to play YR since it's my favorite out of the whole RA series so far!

        Thnx man. Sorry it took so long to respond. I just haven't had time with exams and projects and such. The fix worked like a charm! Now, I suppose it's time for the commander to return once more 😁

    Hi!!

    This patch REALLY WORKS!!! I've spent the last 3 DAYS scouring the earth for this flipping thing!

    However I'm experiencing one small issue which is that my background (desktop) is flashing over the game and menus - it's hard to explain, and I've taken hundreds of screenshots but none of them seem to capture this anomaly!

    My desktop is appearing 'through' my game frequently (at least once every other second then sporadic periods of more) as if trying to break through when you get one of those annoying notifications such as a windows update that minimizes your game. Except there is no update, or anything in the background!

    Hope someone else knows the fix for this? I've done exactly as instructed?

    I've Changed the "DisableHighDpiScaling    = 1" from 0 as this helped the issue LOADS (without it the screen must flash about 3-5 times a second) but still it's frequent and rather annoying.

    It feels like my resolution is battling with something but I can't for the life of me figure it out?

     Hope you can help

    P.S. I know this thread is realllllly old!

       i have the same crappy issue.. with ddraw i keep having this weird desktop pieces flashing in my eyes. not sure bout you, but i have another issues probably from the same source, after about 10-15 minutes of lan play my game stops working. I guess get a "the application stopped working" error and that's it. Any other fixes for this game?

      Do you happen to have Skype or Steam or something open in the background? I know notifications from programs like that can cause the game to flicker while they pop up. The best fix for that is simply to make sure they're all closed and nothing will give you desktop notifications while you're playing.

        no it's just flickering. no problems with notification programs
        it is definitley my origin in the background flickering...
        also I can't change the game resolution in any way....
        tried changing it in the ini files but for yuris revenge it doesn't seem to work

        EDIT: Yuri's revenge doesn't seem to scale in the menu but does it ingame. so that problem is fixed.(kinda.. still weird that you can't change the resolutions in the menu...)
        Now it is just this FLICKERING

    NOW I JUST GOTTA GET USED TO THE SCREEN FLICKERING IT CAUSES! 😢

    thx bro after some win10 update, my yuri revenge have this pb : miscolored- everything is purple, red, green, and blue pixels like the game cannot decide what colored pixels go where.

    ddwrapper solve this PB you save me 😉

      Yey I think I FIXED IT!!!

      Ok I got the same problems all of u got... So I started to test all here to fix the problem, but none worked good.

      Finally I got the resolution 1980 * 1024 and no purple, game seem to work good. Only problem is little laggy when scrolling (maybe some else know fix).

      So I went backwards to figure out what fixed the problem, and i found out exactly what (for me at at least).

      if u don't got the game on Origin u can skip nr: 1, 5 and 6

      First the game need to be clean so, Delete ddwrapper and all the rest u put in the game dir.

      1* Start by right click game in Origin an chose repair. If not installed install first of course 🙂

      2*  If u don't started the game up yet since install do so, both yuri and red alert 2 (this only so the game makes 2 ini files.

      3* Download Resolution fix YuriScreenResolution.zip (Thnx to the maker of this, his homepage for more info and settings).

      4*  Run YuriScreenResolution.exe from inside Ur game dir and click Set game resolution to: 1920 x 1080 (If error missing ini then u missed nr:2) I also Clicked Fix slowdowns during play.

      5* Download C&C Ultimate Collection Launchers (Also Thanx to the maker/makers). Extract to desired place. 

      6* TURN OFF ORIGIN Run C&C Ultimate Collection Launchers Setup.exe make sure red alert 2 and Yuri are ticked. After this my Red Alert 2 Worked, but keep on for Yuri to work.

      7* Go into game dir and find YURI.exe right click and chose Properties, Compatibility tab, Change settings for all users now tick Run this program as a administrator and click OK

      8* Make a shortcut to YURI.exe or start on Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 standard shortcut. 

      9* Play the game and enjoy!!!

    You'll probably never see this, but thank you. This thread has helped me several times over the years with different comps ive had and forgotten how the heck i got RA2: YR to work correctly lol. This simple fix has always worked for me so far.

      I'm subscribed to this forum, and the @name in the thing you quoted means I get email notifications. I read pretty much everything 🙂

      I believe there are even more fixes available in the CnCNet online play installer for RA2, so if ever you encounter a situation where just ddwrapper doesn't cut it, even if you're not interested in online play, it might be worth installing that.

    you should get paid, spent 1 day in finding the freaking solution together with the help of Ea employees.

        Hi All,

        I posted up in another thread with similar graphical issues and game crashing.

        I downloaded the patch in this thread and all seemed well! Until about 15 minutes into the game when it crashed.

        Had to hard reset.

        I'm surprised they would still allow this game to be downloaded through origin and not put the effort into optimising the game for windows 10. 

        I can't imagine it would take very long for them to do so, and for all the people that aren't as tech savvy as others, it can get a bit confusing applying multiple patches and configuring properties.

        Get crackin EA and fix it up!

    @Nyerguds works now thanks! now when the game starts and I am in the actual game/mission, the edges of the screen are cut off but an inch or two.I've tried adjusting resolution within game but it reduces the overall quality of the images, please advise, THANKS DUDE!
