Hi everyone and EA / Motive Team,As a long-time fan of the franchise, I wanted to share my feedback and ideas on how a potential Dead Space 3 Remake could be handled. We all know the franchise is currently on hold, but Dead Space 3 has immense potential if its core issues are fixed. The positive side of Dead Space 3 is undeniable: its graphics still look incredible today, and the scale of the story (the space flotilla, the descent to Tau Volantis) is spectacular. However, the game lost the survival horror identity that made us fall in love with the franchise. If EA Motive ever gets to remake it, here is the ideal roadmap to bring back the true Dead Space experience:
1. Returning to the Classic Resource & Weapon SystemsBring back Specific Ammo: The universal ammo system ruined the tension. We need to go back to managing specific ammo types for each weapon to restore the fear of running out of bullets. The Traditional Bench & Store: Get rid of weapon-crafting microtransactions and scavenger bots. We want the classic store, blueprints, and Power Nodes to upgrade our RIG and weapons strategically. My Core Arsenal: As a veteran, my favorite combination was the Plasma Cutter (for precision limb dismemberment), the Pulse Rifle (for crowd control against massive waves like the Feeders), and the Line Gun (for wide cuts and trapping narrow corridors). The game should force us to rely on these distinct tools.
2. Restoring the Necromorph Terror (The Immortals)Tactical Horror over Action: In the original DS3, Necromorphs became bullet-sponges running in massive action waves. Their AI should be redesigned to mimic the claustrophobic stalker behavior of the first two games.Let us Kill the Regenerators: One of the most terrifying elements of the trilogy is the immortal creatures like The Hunter (DS1), The Ubermorph (DS2), and The Regenerator (DS3). However, fleeing in elevators or running away in DS2 and DS3 felt frustrating.Environmental Kills: A remake should allow us to interact with the environment to permanently destroy these unkillable monsters, just like incinerating the Hunter in DS1. For example, in Dead Space 2 Remake, we should be able to lure the Ubermorph into the Sprawl's space reactors to vaporize it with a plasma purge. In Dead Space 3, we could use the massive industrial excavators of Tau Volantis or liquid nitrogen to freeze and shatter the Regenerators forever.
3. Dynamic Co-op ModeThe Isaac & Carver Dynamic: The co-op mode was a great addition, but it shouldn't compromise the single-player experience. If a player goes solo, Isaac Clarke should feel completely isolated, and the narrative should adapt to his loneliness. If a friend joins, John Carver should seamlessly integrate into the game, bringing back his unique psychological hallucinations.Dead Space is a masterpiece franchise, and the 2023 Remake proved that there is still a massive hunger for sci-fi survival horror.
Please don't let Isaac Clarke float in space forever. Dead Space 3 can be the definitive masterpiece if you inject the gameplay mechanics of the original titles into its great setting.Make Us Whole Again!
