Can't launch DAO from desktop

It launches from the EA app just fine every time, but when I click the .exe even right in the game directory I get an error message saying "Origin is not installed". Well yeah of course it bloody isn't, it doesn't exist anymore! Absolutely ridiculous. I've searched for this exact problem and come up with nothing. Is it a unique bit of bad luck?

Either way, because of it I can't use the command to automatically make the game use only one processor core and that really bugs me. 

If anyone can make heads or tails of this absolute stupidity I'd be appreciative.
