DGXI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG while playing Dragon Age Inquisition
Hello!
For some reason I started getting the following error message:
DirectX Error: DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DGXI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The application's device failed due to badly formed commands sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that should be investigated and fixed.") GPU:"Nvidia GeForce GTX 760", Driver: 38541.
This seems to have been a common occurrence in the forums, but I've yet to find a solution that would work for me. In addition I haven't seen people reporting this problem since the launch of the game, which is weird.
So far I've tried the following:
- updating and rolling back my GPU drivers
- replacing my GPU
- re-running the DirectX installer found in the Dragon Age Inquisition -folder
- turning off ambient occlusion in game
- reducing post-processing quality in game
- underclocked my GPU
- disabled Origin in-game
- run the game in borderless windowed mode
- tried fixing the game using Origin's repair tool
Anything other than the GeForce Experience recommended graphics settings seem to make the problem worse. I can only play for about 5 minutes before the screen freezes, and the error forces me to close the game using task manager.
I've been playing this game just fine for years, and finished it twice before the problem started this summer...
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I cannot get a ticket started because help.ea.com keeps freezing and won't proceed with my request...
