One of the easiest things I have heard to fix this is to change up how your video card/computer hooks up to your monitor...by that I mean, yours shows as using a HD15 cable and if you can use either a DVI or a HDMI cable and it may fix all your issues.
You may also try removing the profileoptions and profileoptions_options files from your saves folder, which will cause DA:I to recreate them and revert everything back to a default state, which MAY reset a setting somewhere in the file helping the issue....worst case it will not really hurt anything or help anything but just make you reset all your custom key bindings and such...
Okay so my screen only has a dual link DVI-D port so I plugged a HDMI cable into my GPU and used an adapter for HDMI to DVI-D to plug it in to my screen. I also tried to remove the profileoptions and profileoptions_options -files.
Neither had any result, game froze within two minutes with the same error message again..
Do you think getting a new screen with an HDMI port would help? Or a DVI-D dual link cable? Does it matter that it's an HDMI to DVI-D cable?
Any other ideas on how to solve this? Thanks again in advance...
Doubt it would make a difference on the monitor....a true HDMI monitor WILL look better when gaming, but doubt it helps this crash.
Alright, I went fiddling around with some new combos of possible solutions. Results are as follows.
I set my GPU into debugging mode from the Nvidia control panel, and chose my GPU as the PhysX processor under 3D settings (this was previously set to "automatic"). Game crashed as per usual in less than five minutes.
The best result was achieved by underclocking my GPU by a 100MHz and running the game in windowed mode. I got about 1½ hours in until a crash in cutscene back at Skyhold.
With these two last attempts I've gotten no error message, but the game just freezes, again forcing me to use task manager to quit it.
