[EA App] Dragon Age 2 Launches with no game

EA App will not recognize my ownership of Dragon Age 2 even though I can download it, uninstall it, reinstall it, and launch it by using the play button on the app. It launches a program (that takes up zero CPU) I can see in my task manager for a few seconds until it closes. It is currently saying that Dragon Age 2 is launched despite no program running in task manager, no game launched, and it won't let me launch anything else in EA App because the game is listed as already running. It's probably some kind of DRM issue from when all the Origin accounts switched to the EA App. It also gives me the option to purchase the game through the EA App. Anyone else having this issue?

  • No errors, it launches and then acts like the game is running when no program actually runs. It's owned and installed (as the standard edition plus all the DLC bought separately). The EA App recognizes I own it. I have installed it multiple times.

EDIT: Mkay so IDK what happened. Despite all the previous issues and me doing nothing to solve them, the game now works fine besides it not running in full screen on launch. Mass Effect 3 did the same thing for me earlier this summer and I didn't know until a month ago that it was fixed. I guess EA just fixes things and doesn't let people know they found a solution. Truly the worst part of all this is I started a Dragon Age Origins playthough instead when I only intended to do a Dragon Age 2 playthrough. I can't just drop my Origins playthrough now; I'm too far in!

Thanks for your help, but it looks like EA worked this one out.

@0-Brother-Hank-0 Do you get any errors when it launches or does it just try to launch and then closes down? If it is related to a DRM issue, you typically get an error message. When it just closes down, something is blocking it.

However, if you own it, and it allows you to purchase it again, it really should only do that if there is a different version of the game in the store.

Do you have EA Play linked to your EA account?

@0-Brother-Hank-0 Once you are in you are in. So the EA App team has been working on other issues that may have affected this one but really had nothing to do with your specific issue. I am glad it started working for you. I started another DAI run to get prepared for Dreadwolf just in case but I understand. Once I start a game, I can't just stop and play something else. I have to finish it before I move on.
