Nvidia's more recent graphics drivers are incompatible with Dragon Age II and cause all kinds of glitches in the DX11 renderer. The last compatible driver version is 340.52 ( 32 bit | 64 bit ). If you encounter any graphical glitches, I suggest you install this driver version. Special thanks to Redditor Emberwake. Update Drivers post 361.75 may now work better.

Hey,I had the same issue with the driver 359.00 installed (& a high end notebook with a 980m). I solved it this way:- I reduced the texture quality from very high to high (this alone didn't change anything). All other graphic options are set to the max.- I installed the latest driver 361.75 with a clean install (so all old profiles got erased)Now the game is working fine, been playing ~10 hours since then & no more texture errors or graphic glitches. Game looks still pretty good with the HD texture pack installed.

A proper solution would be using Nvidia inspector to enable a compatibility flag etc. Also Nvidia does not have a history of breaking older games compatibility as was mentioned in several threads here. I run ages old games just fine. This is an isolated regression incident. We should all mail EA about it. Meanwhile can someone export the DA2 game profile from the working driver version (with Nvidia Inspector: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5077-nvidia-inspector.html) and upload it somewhere for me to check? I may be able to identify a real solution.

Hi All,Having the same problem on latest drivers (344.75)My rig:Windows 8.1 Pro 64bitCPU: Intel i7-4770K 3.5Ghz,RAM: 32GB DDR3,Gigabyte GTX780Ti 3GB GDDR5It's very distracting, and only happens in this game (patch 1.04 is installed, along with high res textures enabled).Have tried turning off high res textures, but has no effect. To any and all EA representatives.Seriously?This is YOUR game. I would think that it would be in your company best interest to talk to Nvidia about this to get this escalated and fixed as soon as possible.Same issue here with 347.09 drivers and GTX 970. Seems that it takes longer for the bug to appear if i do not alt-tab to windows and back.

I confirm that I have issues with this as well. However to get round it, the easiest thing to do is to go into the configuration utility, select the video settings and change them from DX11 to DX9

Oh cool thought I'd never find a solution to this, I've never reverted my driver before though. I'm assuming it's safe and I can update to the recent one whenever?

It doesn't happen often, but I've seen it in several games. I remember having driver versions written down so I could play games like Mass Effect without textures disappearing.

Has anyone from EA tried to Contact Nvidia to get this fixed in upcoming driver?
Im wondering if AMD is any better maybe i should get them next time.

I'm experiencing the same issue and just installed version 344.65. Hopefully this will solve the problem, because I'm mainly worried about Inquisition.

Yes lets hope but fact that the game is amd show cased game it will prob run better on amd im pretty sure i read all gameplay they shown on pc was on amd hardware.

No luck with the new drivers, and nothing else to update. It's playable, obviously and not all that annoying, but I just don't want to run into the same issue with DA:I.

Can someone use Nvidia Inspector to export the DA2 profile from the working driver (340.52) and give me a link to it? If it is something that can be fixed via internal compatibility flags I'll get a fix for everyone asap. If it's something in the actual driver code, we'll have to wait for Nvidia. My system with Nvidia hardware is being actively used for indie game engine development so I can not afford the downtime to switch to that driver, export the profile and go back to the latest. So if someone is currently using that driver or can do the switch to export the profile, it would let me help all of us🙂 If you want to help but need directions on how to export the DA2 profile let me know and I'll guide you through!

I'm willing to do this, but, in general, kind of a scaredy-cat about rolling back for test purposes, especially with Inquisition right around the corner. Are there any potential problems I might have? And yeah, I don't know how to use the Inspector.
Edited to add that I'm not even sure I've ever had that driver on this laptop.

No you should have no problems by rolling back a driver. Follow the procedure here to uninstall current driver and install previous: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/327414-nvidia-drivers-avoid-problems.html
It simple and straightforward.
Regarding extracting the profile, this is how you do it. You download NVidia Inspector from here: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvidia-inspector-download.html
1) Now Run Inspector, and look at the center of its window and to the right there's a button showing a screwdriver crossed with a wrench. If you mouse over it it says "Driver (256+) Profile Settings". Clck that and a new window will open.
2) On this new window use the drop down menu called "Profiles" on the top left to find the profile named "Dragon Age 2".
3) Now find the little icon to the right of the Profiles drop down menu, that shows an upward green arrow. If you mouseover it it will say "Export user defined profiles".
4) Press that button and select "Export current selected profile only" and save the file on your desktop as DA2.nip. Then click the little button again but this time select "Export all driver profiles (Nvidia Test Format) and save the file on your desktop as Profiles.txt
5) Now upload these 2 files somewhere like dropbox or whatever and send me the link🙂 If you don't have anywhere to upload them to, then use pastebin.com. Open them both with notepad and copy paste the contents to pastebin.com. Send me the generated pastebin links🙂
6) Go back to the latest driver🙂
