If they're overwritten - you clearly don't. If he played your character and saved it - enough said.
If you mean you created a character - then he created another character - and you want to play yours, then switch characters in the load screen. It's pretty obvious once you're there...
Oh, my problem happened a little differently.
I used my friend's computer with her and logged in with my account on her PC. We played for a little while then I logged out.
She logged back in with her account and only my characters appeared.
How does she get her characters and memory back? She still has her keep memory but only my saves are there now.

So it's a PC? You would have to go into your 'My Documents' and find the DAI folder where the characters are saved (I don't have access to my computer; so can't tell you where - that and I mostly play on my PS4 or XboxOne) - then copy them from your 'My Documents' to her 'My Documents' (I use a quote there, because the 'My Documents' may be called one of a couple different things - depending on if you're using XP, Vista, Win7 or Win8).
For Windows7/8 - it's generally under 'C:\Users' - you'll see your name, hers, anyone else that may have a sign on on that PC, and finally (probably) a Public folder. It should be pretty easy to figure out from there...
