My only problem with the voice chat so far is that it's mandatory and there doesn't even seem to be a volume slider for it.
Other than that, I imagine if sound is coming through broken up it's because the person's mic is crappy or your volume's too high. I haven't really experienced any choppiness.
Thanks for the reply.
I'd intialy assumed a low end mic too, but from the little I could understand people seemed to be having conversations with no issue - it also seems unlikely that EVERYONE that I encounter has a poor mic.
As for the sound, I play with a Corsair Vengence 1500 head set at about 16% volume (on PC, I completely failed to mention that!). So, it seems unlikely that the distortion is a result of over-doing the volume.
Also, it's ONLY the voice stuff that I'm having any problems with, the rest of the game sounds good even when things get a little hectic.

Check the recording and playback devices. Not sure if it is Dragon Age or what, but since installing the game I have had random changes in what is my recording and playback device. As I also use Skype sometimes and play multiple games in a day, I cannot say for certain that is it, but I have had to tab-out of game and change device settings back to original a couple of times.

I've had a look at the playback and recording devices, as you suggested, but I'm not realy finding anything that would account for the problem I'm having.
It does seem like the game is doing somthing strange when I am playing, however.
My headset has a hardware mute button which, as I cant understand anyone else's chat, I use to mute myself when playing (voice activation only FTW).
Whenever I transition (into playing and from playing into a lobby) the game un-mutes my mic. I know this as when my mic is muted it turns from blue to red and visa versa.
I'm not sure if its related to the garbled/choppy multiplayer voice chat, but it's definately strange 😕mileyfrustrated:

What you're experiencing, Fawlkon, is called volume attenuation. Skype will often lower the volume on other applications when you join a call, so that you can hear the people in your call over your music, movies, etc.
I still have no idea what would cause the problem you're describing. Specific distortion like that is difficult to troubleshoot. I'd still say that as unlikely as it sounds other people's mics are just **bleep** and their 'conversations' is them talking back and forth about how they can't understand each other(or maybe just background noise).
If you'd like, you can add me on Origin and we can join an MP game. I know for a fact my mic works fine, as I use it everyday. It could at least help eliminate the 'everyone's mic sucks' theory.

I sent you a friend reqest, but my mic is working fine now. Here is to hoping it stays that way...Game on!
Just a quick update:
I've installed new drivers for the headphones and tried changing several settings, both in game and in windows.
Unfortunately I've had no joy, anyone else getting anywhere with this?

Anyone wanted to try and fix this within a private multiplayer game lobby, send me a PM and what time(s) EST you will be on. Dont forget to send me a friend request!

Please click XP and/or Problem Solved if you think I earned it! 🙂 I am having the same issue right now. Apart from this thread I can't find any information about this. I can't thiunk of anything more to add to to try than what has been mentioned so far, and none of them have worked for me either :/

Yep, having this exact issue and it's the only place I've found anyone else with it. It's only the voice chat and its only other people talking they can understand me fine, but for the most what I hear is stuttered so badly as to be unable to understand other users. (Used friend chat to make sure they could understand me, but I still could not understand them.) It's almost like when you have a speaker system set to save itself from too much volume so it cuts out, but then as volume is lowered it comes back in over and over. However, I don't have high end speakers with this kind of protection, and it happens whether I am using my desktop speakers, or have my headset plugged in. It's extremely annoying as I can't really chat with friends while playing with them, and I have a difficult time communicating plans to total strangers when doing pugs. All other sound in the game is fine in both SP and MP. It's only inbound voice that is a problem and it can't be EVERYONE I'm listening too with a **bleep** mic, because it's every player in every game coming through like this.
