I think it's safe to assume that this problem is only occuring in laptop users? I'm running on a Lenovo Y40 and also have this same problem. Only issue with making the game borderless windowed is that it runs in the native resolution of my laptop (3840 X 2160) which is no bueno for my frame rates.

I eventually got it to work (sort of) by running it in borderless windowed mode (not ideal). Since I am running on a 3840X2160 resolution, my frame rate issues were solved by lowering the resolution scale in the graphics options. Again, not ideal and would definitely like to see a patch to allow proper fullscreen.
