having this issue as well. still no update?
I have this issue too. I've searched all over the internet and I can't find a reliable solution that works. This is ridiculous.
It doesn't seem to be an issue for people who physically bought the game, and there is a workaround for the Steam version (which we can no longer purchase, or I would have). But I can't find any solution for the Origin version.
The Hi_Res Pack is an ".exe" file. When you download it you should SAVE to your machine, then double-click it to install.
It installed fine on my EA/Origin version (as it did on my previous retail disc version.)
What type of install do you have?
digital version of the game taken from the origin i got the first game must be installed
This was posted 2 months ago, is there no fix? I can open up the settings and the texture pack won't install while they are open. I close the settings and the texture pack says the game isn't installed.
- Anonymous12 years agoI've got the same problem, I'm going to try to extract the files and manually stick them in to see if I get get this working.
- Anonymous12 years agoIt worked!! Extract the files from the installer that you download find the package file. Go to the origins, thenDragon age II file find the package file there. Copy the extracted one and paste it in to add the high res texture files. Launch game then go to options and check the high resolution texture box. Done
im having the same problem as you described. downloaded and ran the game from origin, got the texture pack (but the origin link would not work so got it from bioware), and cant run the .exe as it says the game is not installed!?! how did you extract the files required from the .exe? i cant work out how to do it..... cant see any open file location link there. can you explain plzz?

If you have trouble installing the official texture patch, you could instead install this unofficial texture mod that looks much better than the official patch. http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage2/mods/3687/?

The texture quality was so horrible in this game. I Googled, and found the official hi-res texture back on Bioware's site. I ran the .exe file but it couldn't find the installed Dragon Age 2. I bought the game through Origin, and the DLCs I bought for this game installed properly without any problems.
