Re: Black Screen

1)  Are the refresh rates on both monitors the same??  And are they close to what you had in game??

2)  What happens when you remove the second monitor from the system??

3) how long have you waited at the black screen??

Trying to find out if it is a conflict with the second monitor or if something changed in your game......

    1) The refresh rate on both monitors is 60 Hertz.  I'm uncertain how those compare to what I experience in game.

    2) I first tried removing the display from the second monitor via the control panel, which didn't yield any results.  When I completely unhook the second monitor, the game works! 🙂

    3) When it's not working, I wait approximately 3 minutes.

So it is certainly a conflict with the second monitor!  However, is there anything I can do to make it so that I don't have to plug things in and out when I want to play the game?  I'll explain my setup below.

My second monitor is a 19" TV that I was no longer using.  To use both displays, I bought a VGA to USB converter.  The TV wasn't able to function through the USB, so I actually have the TV plugged into the primary VGA input and my primary monitor plugged into the converter.  My monitor is set as my main display.  The resolutions are different: the monitor's recommended setting is 1680 x 1050 and the TV's resolution is 1024 x 768 (which is all it must be capable of because when I tried changing the resolution, it gave an "Invalid Input" error).  I'm assuming based on this that the resolution would be an issue?

Thank you very much for your help! :3  It's appreciated, trust me!

AHHH, I see said the blind man...

Ok, from what I can understand about USB to VGA adapters, google is my friend, is that they are low quality video cards that you plug into a usb port to run.  The issue you will be having is, you are trying to run the game through two different cards to display on two different monitors.  So the external adapter card can't run the game, and since that is your primary, it pretty much shuts it down.  IF it can run the game...I am really really surprised considering how much this game takes to run.  So, from what I understand, it basically will not work the way you have decided to add another monitor.....

Pick a different adapter(one that plugs into your video card) and you will probably be fine.  Just spend the extra 150 and pick up a decent led monitor....less headaches and you will really enjoy the extra monitor.

Thank you for all your help!  After some experimenting, research, and closely examining my video card, I discovered that my video card has an HDMI port.  With it, I was able to hook up the TV via HDMI, which allows it to run on the same video driver and it seems to work quite well!  It also allows for an insanely higher resolution on the TV.  Plus the game works now and I don't have to unplug things or worry about adapters! 🙂

I may eventually purchase a second monitor as I imagine it will be more cooperative than a TV, but for now I'm still paying off my computer and don't have the extra money.
