Re: Game freezes at the tavern in Skyhold after Here lies the Abyss

Thanks for answering.

Yes, I'm on PC. I've tried repairing the game, but sadly, it didn't fix anything ...

And it's like you said, mine used to get stuck a few seconds too while it was loading the area up, like the people or the objects around. The problem is that now, it's doesn't end and remains blocked. The only sounds I hear are the background conversations between the NPCs. The same "Yes, that's why." from one of them was repeating endlessy the last time I tried and the game generally freezes before the bard begins to sing. And sometimes I can see Krem or the bard, whereas sometimes they haven't been "loaded" yet when I enter the tavern.

Oh, and I've already tried to load a previous save and re-do the quest, but the game still freezes ...

I'm currently posting a dxdiag like it's explained on your link.

You need to post a link to the dxdiag file here in order for us to see it 😉

Also, out of curiosity, are you using any mods?

Oh, yes, of course, in fact I was wondering if I had to post it on another specific thread but I'm going to just copy/paste it here:

    http://hastebin.com/uxeqokohed.tex

And that's right I use mods to customize my character's and companions' appearance but since they worked fine until now, I didn't think they could be responsible for the freezing of my game.

@Bibise1 If you're using too many mods, it could be too much for the game to load up on your computer (I know mine has slowed down quite a bit... there are just so many pretty hairs, I want all the people to have them 😛 ). I'm assuming, since this is the first issue you've had, that your Radeon GPU is set up to run the game, not the Intel?

First thing I'd try is lowering some graphics settings, see if that helps. If it doesn't, try removing your mod folder. If that fixes it, create a new mod merge with less cosmetic mods. If that doesn't fix it... Come back and surely I or someone else will have more ideas. 😛

When I remove the Patch_ModManagerMerge folder from the Update folder in the "Origins games : Dragon Age Inquisition" folder in my "Program Files" section, and then try to load my save, it says that my data were created with a more recent version of the game and that I need to download the last update first before I can play again so I can't check if it works or not ... Sorry, but is there something I'm doing wrong ?

@Bibise1 In the same folder (the Update folder) you need to go into the Patch folder, open the file package.mft with notepad and change the line that says "Version 12" to "Version 13". The mod folder tricks the game into thinking it's an update, so that the game will load your modded content, and the game won't load a save created with a higher patch version than what you're running.
Just remember to change the package.mft folder back before putting your mod folder back or doing a new mod merge. 🙂
