That's a good start, but I would also advise to launch Windows in a clean state. Here's info on how to perform a clean boot:

This will launch Windows with minimal applications. If the game launches during a clean boot, it means there was a background process preventing the game from launching.

I tried launching the game after following the instructions in the article on "Windows clean state", but unfortunately it didn't make any difference; the only change was that it took a moment longer to load after clicking "launch" before the EA application appeared again.
