I don't see why the freckled 1 and 2 options should be giving that strange shadowing effect. It's basically unusable for characters you don't want facial hair on for some reason.
The effect is also noticeable in game.

I tried all the levels of melanin and different skin colors too and it still comes out with the ugly bottom face grey.
There are a lot of complexions with the same issue. I can't use them for my female rook.
Also, all the head templates have very masculine shapes. The character creator seems to be designed to create male characters.
Yeah I noticed this too. There are a lot of complexions that can't really be used on a female character because they show light beard growth. Honestly that really should be its own setting in either the complexion department or the facial hair department.
