The only thing that fixed the stuttering was to turn on vsync and set that to 1/2. Unfortunately, that also locks fps to 30… which may be a dealbreaker for some.
However, since doing that, my audio seems to be 99% crackle free. No idea what might be causing this issue or why that fixed it.

Okay, so I think I’m noticing a pattern. I think the audio stuttering has something to do with npcs — its the worst when in cities, and gone when in story mission environments. Maybe it’s something to do with CPU load? Lowering FPS would help in the case of a CPU bottleneck I think, which explains why vsync seems to work. Hopefully they will add a patch that optimizes npcs soon. Dragons dogma had this same exact problem
