As stated above, my game has refused to launch after the latest patch. I have done everything on my own end to resolve this: i.e. fresh install, deleting specific folders, updating drivers, fresh install on a different drive, etc. I have the game purchased through Steam and before this latest update, I was able to play it just fine. Now, it only opens a black window for a second or two before closing. It doesn't even make an attempt to load. I have over 100+ hours in this game and I am now entirely unable to play it and cannot even request a refund. (Not that I'd like to. I'd like to be able to finish the game. :/ )I have seen others have this problem, but there doesn't seem to be a fix. I hope that perhaps a fix can be released in an update soon to sort this issue out. I'm not sure what else I can do. I have attached a screen recording to show what happens on my end.

I've talked to several support reps and it's basically been boiled down to "oh its a bug we can't do anything; report it and wait." Hopefully a patch gets dropped soon because I have almost 400 hrs in the game and would really love to play it more.

Thanks for the suggestions. Tried both and still no luck. Had disabled antivirus (Windows Defender) and firewall as well as added the game to any exceptions. Also tried unplugging any USB dongles and hardware just in case.Not sure if it is relevant or how it is supposed to run, but posting the below information as well. When launching the game the black window opens with "Dragon Age: The Veilguard" in the window title, but then quickly disappears and remains blank before closing. Watching the Task Manager during this, the Veilguard process loads with 17-18 sub-processes. That number decreases by 2 or so every few seconds until the game disappears completely from the list. Screenshots below.

UPDATE: finally got the game to run for the first time.I started looking into the NGX Updater process from my post above and found a few forum posts for a different game where multiple instances were showing up and the game would never launch.They recommended a full uninstall + clean install of all the Nvidia drivers. Followed the steps in this reddit post:Guide: How To cleanly reinstall your Nvidia DriverGame now loads and seems to be running without issues so far ~30min past character creation.

Well you got further with them than I did. Tried reaching out to EA support to make them aware of the bug. Wouldn’t even hear me out since I bought the game through Steam. Said to request a refund and repurchase through the EA app since there is no bug.

Check and see if Veilguard is showing up in your EA app library. Mine isn't, and I'm wondering if that's related.

Have you tried pausing your antivirus software to see if that helps? In the past, Inquisition has also had some problems launching with certain antivirus software and it looked the same: black screen, then closed again.

If you want to be more thorough, you could try a clean boot. This ensures Windows runs with minimal background processes. If this allows you to run the game, it means a background process interfered and you can start figuring out which one it was.

Mine does not show up in my EA App Library either.
My other EA games through Steam do though (Jedi: Fallen Order & Survivor). On the Steam Store both of those state “Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: EA online activation and EA app software installation and background use required” and “Requires 3rd-Party Account: EA Account”, but Veilguard does not.
Can someone confirm if this game is supposed to show up in the EA app as well. I tried unlinking and relinking my Steam to my EA account, but it did not show up.
