When loading, get a black screen with the game still loading

For some reason over the last couple of days, I have been dealing with whenever I try to load the game after I stop playing for a bit, I get a black screen that loads and then sits there and it seems like nothing happens but the game does load and then I can hear the sound and everything and can hear when my mouse seemingly goes over the menu options.

I have tried the following:

  • Updated Graphics drivers to the latest
  • Updated Windows to the latest
  • Verified Game Files
  • Deleted the shader cache
  • Rolled back my Graphics driver to an earlier version to see if that works.

The only thing that seems to work is uninstalling the game and reinstalling...which is insanely annoying to do.  At this point I'll keep reinstalling to be able to play the game....but it's annoying.

Yeah well now the reinstall fix is no longer working.  So I can't play the game now.

Please add a DxDiag to your next reply.

A DxDiag is an overview of your PCs technical features and recent software errors.
There is no personal info in it except for the “Machine name” in the second row.
(You might delete the “Machine name” line if you wish too.)

    How to create a DxDiag:

    1. Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    2. Copy and paste or type "DxDiag" (Without the quotes) into the new field. > ENTER
    3. Wait until the green bar is gone > Click on "Save all information"
    4. Save the file to your desktop.
    5. Here at EA Forum > Click Replay > Click the paper clip icon at the bottom of the replay Window.
    6. Navigate to the "DxDiag.txt" on your desktop > select the "DxDiag.txt" > click on "Open".

    An update:

I put the Steam folder in the exclusions in my Antivirus and it seemed to work this evening.  And then, I just tried it and I got the same problem.

The minimum system requirements for DAtV require a Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 3 3300X  and a dedicated GPU of at least NVIDIA GTX 970/1650 / AMD Radeon R9 290X level.
I am not sure if if you will be able to get this game to run on a Surface Book 3.

Well I have gotten it to run somewhat.....since I have gotten through a few chapters of the game.  When it wants to work, it works....it's just that it is consistent in being inconsistent

Which might be a symptom of the hardware being beneath the system retirements.

Did you clean installed the graphic driver with DDU or a similar tool?
Do you stop all background services and applications before trying to play?
