Can't access EA account - Yahoo email permanently deactivated

Hello,

I'm trying to access my EA Account, but the email address linked to it is an old Yahoo account that was permanently deactivated due to inactivity.

Whenever I try to change my email address or access my account settings, EA sends a verification code to that Yahoo email, but I no longer have access to it.

I still own the account and can provide information to verify my identity, such as my linked Steam account, my date of birth, and my purchase history.

I simply need to update the email address associated with my EA Account.

Could someone please tell me how I can contact an EA Advisor to resolve this issue?

Thank you.

  • Hello, Ceboliinh

We're sorry to hear you're having trouble accessing your account.

Since you no longer have access to the email address associated with your EA Account, we recommend contacting your email provider first to see if it's possible to recover access to the account.

If that isn't possible, you'll need to contact our Support team. They have procedures in place to verify ownership of your EA Account, and if your ownership can be successfully confirmed, they'll be able to help you update the email address associated with your account.

Please follow the link to contact Support.

    Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, contacting EA Support doesn't solve my problem because I'm stuck in an endless verification loop.

Every time I try to contact Support or manage my account, EA asks me to verify my Yahoo email address. The problem is that this Yahoo account was permanently deactivated, so I no longer have access to it and cannot receive the verification code.

Because of this, I can't access Support through my EA Account either. I have no way to get past the verification step.

I really need to speak with a real support agent who can manually verify that I am the owner of this account and help me update my email address.

Could someone please help me or direct me to a way to contact a live EA Support representative without requiring email verification?

    Thank you very much.

Ceboliinh Thank you for the additional information. Unfortunately we are unable to help directly with account related issues trough EA Forums.

If you're unable to complete the email verification because you no longer have access to the old Yahoo account, you can try contacting EA Help without signing in to your EA Account.

Access the EA Help website as a guest/visitor and start a support case from there. Once you're connected with an EA Advisor, explain that you're unable to sign in because the email address on the account is no longer accessible. The advisor can then guide you through the account ownership verification process.

We hope you're able to get this resolved soon.

Firstly this is a problem with Yahoo accounts. Years ago I used Yahoo to setup my account. They are very slow to pass through verification codes.

I added my gmail, and a mobile number. If you added either you can request a code (I recommend gmail for that - it's instant.)

If you didn't give EA any other contact info, I don't know what to say beyond what others have said. I hope it works out for you.

BTW: From time to time I need to verify, but I always use my secondary gmail. Years ago the first time I had to update something and verify I used my default Yahoo account. Nothing arrived and I thought, what's going on and shut down in disgust.

The NEXT DAY I had a verification code in my Yahoo mail account, but it had expired. Since then I NEVER use it. Always gmail.

EDIT: Is it not possible to contact EA in anyway without verification? I mean as a guest, or visitor. It might not be clearly shown, or buried in sub menus? The problem is that unless it's set up (by EA) in a clever way accounts might be vulnerable to idiot hackers. (I guess)

If not I would like to request EA setup something safe which can't be spoofed to do this. I bet quite a few folks have had similar experiences. Especially with Yahoo.  Or, EA could make it obligatory to set a secondary email address, or a mobile number in order to setup a new account from now on. Then this couldn't happen.
