EA App vs Steam Big Picture

When I launch EA Sports FC 26 from Steam, the EA App takes over and often fails to launch for some reason. I switch back to Steam and try again then EA Sports FC loads in the background and I have to minimize Steam to then select the app, or worse, the app takes visual focus but not input so my controller inputs are being sent to steam still - which generally results in me shutting down the machine accidentally.

Please tell me there's a better way to do things with this app. I've read that having it load on start-up can help but then it loads its UI and doesn't allow to be minimised on launch.

It's a horrible experience.
