@DrearyDreamzYou can be right in that there isn't an option to add a shortcut while installing a game through the EA Desktop app. I'm not in position to say either way, but it could be by design. Perhaps the thought was that you would be using the app to launch the games anyway, so there is no need to add a functionality of creating launch shortcuts for the games to desktop and/or Start menu.
I guess you should voice your opinion on this in the Feedback forum so that it might be considered a feature to be added.
In the meantime, you can do a bit of work yourself and use file explorer to navigate to the install location of the game, and manually create the shortcut to the game executable.

yeah ok what about us people who own Stream decks and just want to push a button to open a game, when a program or game is installed it should automatically install a desktop shortcut. reguardless of what the software creator thinks. its being installed on my pc i want desktop icons

Hi everyone,
With the latest update we added the functionality where you can create a desktop shortcut when installing a game.
What do you think?

Hi, Jason!
That's great for a new-install game.
But it fails to allow us to create new shortcuts for games we already have installed, and don't want to uninstall-and-then-reinstall.
Most of your competitors have a "create desktop shortcut to game" in the "tools" feature of that game's listing. Steam, GOG Galaxy, Bethesda.net, Battlenet, Epic, you name it. You guys are the "outlier" in this regard, in not having a similar feature in the game's "settings and options" menu in "Origin." This is a significant oversight, and really isn't a great thing. It should be TRIVIAL to implement this feature into your service UI, honestly.
That said... it's pretty easy to make one manually if you know what you're doing. The desktop shortcuts the installer automatically creates are simply shortcuts to the game executable (perhaps with a few command-line items in some cases?)
For example... for my Origin installation of "Syberia II," here's the path my shortcut links to: "F:\EA Origin\Games\Syberia II\Syberia2.exe"
