Is it possible to get a refund on a game you've not had any play time in?

Is it possible to get a refund on a game you've not had any play time in? A friend got me BF2 recently on steam but I can't play it because EA's customer support is kind of garbage and they don't allow you to unlink an EA account less its through the EA website, meaning an account I made years ago, forgot everything about, is preventing me from playing a fairly expensive game a friend got for me, because EA can't make a decent customer support. . .

CM edit: edited title for clarity.

  • Hi @MuteSharkAmity,

We don’t handle Steam purchases directly, and it looks like you received the game as a gift rather than purchasing it yourself. This means you wouldn’t be able to request a refund, but your friend might be able to help with that. I recommend checking with Steam for more information.

Regarding the issue with your Steam account being linked to an EA account where you’ve forgotten the credentials, I understand how frustrating that can be. Unfortunately, we can’t assist directly with recovering your EA account, as only you have access to the account details. However, you can try to recover it by following the steps outlined here.

To help further, I’ve also included a link to our article on "Unlinking your platform accounts from your EA Account" in case you need it.

I hope this clears things up.
