So...will this ever be fixed? I recently lost internet and was speechless to discover that offline play is not possible on the EA app. Why force us to use it if a very important feature like offline play, simply does not exist?
What we have now is not offline play.
Whoever at EA thought this app is a wonderful idea needs to be fired asap and whoever approved of this needs to go to an unemployment line.
This is my critique to EA. The app is horrendous and inconvenient. It is also massive problem for Steam Deck and the recent ASUS ROG since the app FORCES online mode.
Turning Offline mode does not help at all if you have to return again later in offline mode just so it asks for you to back online to GO back to Offline mode?!
Even if it were to remove “keep me logged in”, it stills forces to go back to online mode. So for fans like Mass Effect decided to whip out their portable device to enjoy their favorite series off grid or a place terrible internet connection, EA basically says “Screw you, Online is the future” since you can’t go online to play the games that has offline capabilities.
Granted I can greatly understand online only games like Apex Legends. But Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered and Jedi Survivor are offline capable and only required online for updates and adding extra contents.
Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster does not have multiplayer mode. Only Mass Effect 3 original does and the game is still offline friendly for campaign.
If this EA app was meant to combat piracy, it heavily backfires them as it encourages players to pirate since it can be offline friendly. I’m not going to that route since I love the Mass Effect franchise and I want to contribute.
But I don’t know if I want to buy the next EA game in the future if this is the asinine direction they’re going for.
I implore you, EA, please fix the app and make offline mode available without the force online unless folks wants to manually update and such. Please.
