What do you expect to see?The download to start.
It doesn't have a problem downloading an owned game such as Battlefield 1 and Battlefront II. It doesn't matter if I start the installation form the Xbox app or EA Desktop. I tried to set UAC to maximum and minum, change the installation folder, reinstall EA Desktop, restarting the computer, clearing its folder in ProgramData, uninstalling Origin... Battlefield 1 (before I uninstalled it to see if I can download it from EA Desktop) and Battlefront II work just fine. I even tried logging out of the Xbox app and EA Desktop, and unlinking the two accounts. Nothing helped.
I also tried to put everything to open as administrator and somehow made the thing worse? At first it crashed and windows asked if it was working fine or what. But other than that, nothing really changed.
As a last resort, I tried reading the EABackgroundService log and manually create the C:\ProgramData\Origin\LocalContent\[GAME NAME] but it won't open the manifests and I've really run out of options and ideas here.
First, please go to C:\ProgramData\EA Desktop\Logs and send the EABackgroundService.log just to make sure if it's actually the same problem as mine.
Anyway, I solved my problem. I don't know if it's a combination of a couple of things I did, or only the last thing, so I'm going to post everything to be sure.
Starting from the last thing, I wento to C:\ProgramData and into Properties>Security>Advanced>Change permissions and ticked the "Replace all child objects..."
Before this, I actually noticed a couple of groups already in there that were duplicates without a heritage, so I removed them.
And that's it. Now I'm happily downloading Mirror's Edge, The Sims 4 and so on.
Thanks for the reply! So, I actually already done all this, but just for good luck I did it again.
And... somehow messed up the entire Installation.
From the start: I tried clearing the cache via App Recovery, then uninstalling and reinstalling through the Xbox App, all done with UAC set to minimum.
Then I tried doing all those things in the same order with UAC set to maximum.
After uninstalling EA Desktop, it asked me to restart, and so I did before reinstalling it from the Xbox App.
And then this happened:
I have no idea how to react to this, everything is missing, but it's actually there. I'm so confused. Using the App Recovery and turning down the UAC brings it back to life.
But putting aside this, it still does not work. (Battlefront II, which I own, it's downloading right now without problems)

I also tried installing games from very possibile way: from the xbox app, from EA Desktop, from my collection, from the Browse section...
I just tried deleting all files from ProgramData (expect Origin/LocalContent and EA Desktop/Logs) and from the Local folder in AppData but nothing has changed.
So apparently my last reply was marked as spam and deleted?
Edit: my first reply apparently just came back to life. I'll leave though the TL;DR just in case.
TL;DR:
First, thanks for the reply,
I did all those things, with UAC levels high and low. Nothing changed. I also tried to delete everything possible EA/Origin related in Local and in ProgramData. Nothing changed.
I'll attach the log but it always says the same thing. Something about permissions to create the folder for the download manifest. But since it only happens with EA Play games and not with the games I own, I don't really know what the problem is.
I've attached to the reply the EABackgroundService.log.
I cannot install Sims4. I've read a couple articles on here and have tried clearing my app cache, restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling the EA Desktop App, made sure no folders with Sims4 is on my computer. I've never had Sims4 on my computer in the past. I have a higher end PC meeting all the system requirements. I've tried everything I can think of to be able to download the game but it comes up with the same error every time I try to do so. If I could get some help with this I would really appreciate it.
"Unable to install
There was a slight hiccup and we couldn’t finish installing Game Name Unavailable. Restart your PC and try again."
First, please go to C:\ProgramData\EA Desktop\Logs and send the EABackgroundService.log just to make sure if it's actually the same problem as mine.

@Nathaniserif you mean <<Starting from the last thing, I went to C:\ProgramData and into Properties>Security>Advanced>Change permissions and ticked the "Replace all child objects...">>, sorry, you have to first enable show hidden files (go to start, open "file explorer options", View and then "Show hidden files, folders and drives") then when on you C:\, right click on the hidden folder "Program Data", Proprieties and so on.
Hope I helped you out ^^
