EA app cannot update

Hi. I went to launch the Sims 4 and the EA App shows a pop up screen saying

"The EA app needs to restart

A mandatory update is required to stay online. Restart the EA app to apply update."

I proceeded with clicking on the restart button, making sure I have no other applications running. The EA Launch Helper pop up shows with a "Downloading" loading screen with a progression bar. The progression stays stuck on 0%. I am unable to access anything within the EA app itself to see what settings I can change. I have tried for about a week, daily, with restarting the app and I have no luck.

    Hi there, I got the same bug here, but more seriously, I couldn't download the EA app from the EA website at all. Any clues?

    @Smasherthe7 Hi there,

    If you're unable to download the EA app from the website, there might be a program blocking your download. I would suggest checking your Antivirus settings and temporarily disabling it if necessary. You can also try download the app using a different browser.

    Hi there, it can be downloaded via my cellphone, but not working on my pc...

    Yeah this absolutely did not work for me.

    I have done this:

       Cleared the Cache for the EA program

       Turned off Realtime scanning in my virus checker
       Ran the EA program as an administrator

    The program is broken fundamentally on some systems, theres obviously some kind of correlation between these few systems and the wider world who don't have this issue. So what is blocking this program from applying an update to itself? What specifically is it EA?
