EA app entitlements are wildly inconsistent (sometimes missing dozens of games)

My EA app library frequently is missing entitlements.

  • In Example 1 from March 13 (Example 1 link), you can see that EA app detected 1 installed game (I have 4 installed), and only detected 11 additional games in my library.
  • In Example 2 (Example 2 link), also from March 13 (immediately after restarting EA app after Example 1), you can see that EA app detected 4 installed games, and an additional 93 games in my library (this is closer to accurate, but I need go back through my years' worth of entitlements to figure out which, if any, games are missing at this point; I know some like Anthem and Knockout City have been removed from everyone's libraries since those have been taken offline, and I am not disputing the absence of those few multiplayer-only titles, as lamentable as their absence might be; the issue is that I am having a large number of single-player games not show up in my library at times).
  • In Example 3 from March 16 (Example 3 link), EA app detects 4 installed games, and an additional 81 games in my library (when EA app has entitlement issues, it is usually closer to showing 80-ish of my 100-ish games, as opposed to only showing a dozen or so titles).

These are all games for which I have purchased licenses (i.e., this is not from an EA Play subscription, although I have had one in the past). When these games are missing, they aren't grayed-out in my library, they are completely absent from my EA app library. Pressing Ctrl+F5 does not fix it. In my experience, giving EA app several minutes does not result in the missing titles loading in, only restarting EA app (temporarily) fixes it. Restarting EA app once usually fixes it (until it occurs again in a subsequent login session); sometimes it requires one or two additional restarts before displaying accurately. EA app is the only client with which I experience this. I would not say I am encountering this 50% of the time, but it is a frequent occurrence. Is this entitlements inconsistency between EA's servers?

I have a dynamically-assigned IP address. I am currently using my ISP's DNS service, but I have used Google and Cloudflare in the past, and it had no bearing on this issue. I am not experiencing any network disruption (Ethernet), and I am using a legitimate installation of Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (with the latest Extended Security Updates installed), and I've encountered this issue well before Windows 10 was EOL. It has been happening randomly since the release of EA app. I have also had EA app (I would imagine server-side) clear out my wishlist. I do not have EA app set to open at startup (EA services do run though, e.g., EABackgroundService).

  • Clearing EA app's cache does not prevent this issue.
  • Running System File Checker does not fix this issue.
  • I have already added antivirus and firewall exceptions for EA app [EADesktop.exe, EALauncher.exe, EALaunchHelper.exe, EABackgroundService.exe, EALocalHostSvc.exe, and EACefSubProcess.exe are the only EA app binaries I currently have exception rules for (no EA app binaries are blacklisted, but the aforementioned EXEs are the only ones for which I currently have whitelist rules), but I have previously created exceptions for all EXEs in %PROGRAMFILES%\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop, and it made no difference].
  • Turning off my antivirus suite altogether also does not alleviate this issue.
  • All ports listed at https://web.archive.org/web/20140929090241/http://help.ea.com/en/article/connection-issues-with-origin/ have been configured for port forwarding with my router, and my router has its latest firmware installed.
  • Clean booting my PC does not prevent this issue.
  • No VPN or proxy server is being used, nor is the computer configured for one.
  • I am not accessing EA app from different locales (i.e., traveling).
  • No DNS filtering tools are being used.

March 18: Only 85 (≈ 87% of) games show up; 4 installed (correct), 81 additional in library (incorrect; missing titles). Fixed (temporarily) with EA app restart.

Sometimes when this happens, it affects DLC but not the base game. I.e., if The Sims 4 is present, sometimes some of the owned DLC is missing. I've never launched The Sims 4 when EA app fails to detect ownership of DLC to see if the DLC is also missing in game (I restart EA app instead).

Tangentially, when combing through my library, I noticed Mass Effect: Andromeda states "N/A owned" in terms of game edition. I pre-ordered the limited-time Super Deluxe Edition. Out of curiosity I downloaded Mass Effect Andromeda, and when I attempt to launch it, I receive the error message, "Failed to launch the game. An error on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again a little later." I'm also getting this error message for Mirror's Edge.

Edit: Again on March 18: Only 88 games show up; 2 installed (correct; I uninstalled 2 of the 4 previously installed games); 86 additional in library (incorrect; missing titles). Fixed (temporarily) with EA app restart.

March 21: Only 85 games show up; 2 installed (correct), 83 additional in library (incorrect; missing titles). Fixed (temporarily) with two EA app restarts (the first restart didn't fix it).

After the second EA app restart, I also reinstalled Mirror's Edge and Mass Effect: Andromeda, and both games still refuse to launch, giving the error code, "Failed to launch the game. An error on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again a little later."

EA app is providing a pretty abysmal customer experience, and if I didn't have games and DLC on it that aren't available from other digital distribution platforms, I would tell EA to jettison the whole thing. As it is, I'm at the mercy of this poor excuse for a launcher.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown Cantiras -- this isn’t expected behaviour, and the pattern you’re describing (large swings in library size that temporarily correct after restart) points more toward a sync issue between the EA app and entitlement services rather than anything local on your setup.

You’ve already ruled out most common client-side causes (network, firewall, cache, clean boot), and the fact that restarting the app consistently restores your full library suggests the client isn’t always completing entitlement reconciliation on login.

There are two potentially separate issues here:

Missing games / DLC in library

The fluctuation in total titles (e.g. ~10 vs ~80 vs ~90) suggests inconsistent entitlement retrieval rather than revoked licenses.

    To help narrow this down:

    • When titles are missing in the EA app, do they still appear correctly in your EA account on the website (Order History / Library)?
    • Are the same titles missing each time, or does the subset change between sessions?

Launch failures + “N/A owned” edition

The “N/A owned” label on Mass Effect: Andromeda and the “error on our end” launch failures point to incomplete or mismatched entitlement metadata being returned to the client, which may be related but isn’t guaranteed to be the same root cause.

One targeted step to try (session reset)

This goes beyond standard cache clearing and targets session desync:

    • Log out of the EA app
    • End EABackgroundService in Task Manager
    • Wait ~60 seconds
    • Log back in

If you’re willing to help us escalate this:

The most useful data is from a live broken state (before restarting the app):

    • EA Error Reporter ID
      • Generate this while the issue is occurring (missing titles or launch failure) and share the ID
    • Client logs (captured before restart)
    • Timestamps (with timezone)
      • When the library is incorrect
      • When it appears correct again after restart
    • Examples of affected titles
      • 1–2 games that are missing, then reappear after restart

This lets us correlate your session against backend entitlement responses and determine whether this is a client sync issue or a service-side inconsistency.

EA_Leeuw If you will bear with me, I will collect all the information I can, including what you asked for (but also including which, if any, games are failing to launch in addition to Mirror's Edge and Mass Effect: Andromeda, e.g., I think I also previously encountered this “error on our end” issue for Mass Effect 3 when testing for the Origin-to-EA app issues thread).

At the time of the Origin-to-EA app transition, I also had issues like some of the older games (I think Crusader: No Remorse and Wing Commander 3 or 4, and possible others) wouldn't work via EA app unless they were installed to my system drive. I typically keep games installed on another SSD because my system drive is only 475 GB, and I typically have multiple games installed at any time via various launchers. But old games (e.g., DOSBox games) are so small in size, it's manageable to install them to my system drive if need be for EA app. But newer games take up too much storage space to be installed several at a time on my system drive.

What I can say is that despite its warts, these games have in times past worked via Origin on this same computer (so I assume some backend changes accompanied, or otherwise preceded, the transition to EA app), and I don't remember any fluctuations in my entitlements back then (as now happens routinely with EA app).

It will be several days before I can get back to you again, but I will. And thank you for responding.

EA_Leeuw As a quick update, today I only had 85 games show up (3 installed, which is currently correct; 82 additional in library, which is short several titles). At least as of right now, this appears to be alphabetical (games only show up from 'A' as in Alice: Madness Returns Digital Collector's Edition to 'The', as in The Sims 2 Legacy Collection; not all titles beginning with the letter 'T' show up, and none show up after the letter 'T'.) I won't swear to it until I've compiled a list of my entitlements, but I think all titles beginning with the letter A' to the word 'The' were present in my library, excluding titles that have been retired due to server closures (e.g., Anthem).

This is also impacting DLC. For example, The Sims 4 is currently showing in my library, but only 81 of the add-ons are showing as owned, which is short by 30+ add-ons. With regard to missing The Sims 4 DLC, this doesn't seem to be determined alphabetically or by date of purchase (perhaps by product ID number?). Even when all The Sims 4 DLC shows properly in EA app, and The Sims 4 in-game store shows that I own all expansions, game packs, stuff packs, and kits, I notice that sometimes when I load official Maxis content from the gallery, I get a message stating that some of the gallery content contains items I don't own. I assumed it was because perhaps they used preorder or promotional event content (some of which I've missed out on) or the game was just being buggy.

I was in the middle of supper, so about half an hour elapsed between when EA app failed to show all my games and when I checked https://myaccount.ea.com/am/ui/payment-wallet/order-history, but some of the DLCs (Enchanted by Nature, Realm of Magic, etc.) from The Sims 4 that were missing on EA app are present in my order history, and games like Titanfall 2: Ultimate Edition and Unravel Two show up in my order history even though they are currently missing from EA app.

As mentioned in my previous post, it will be several days (as in 2-4 weeks) before I can devote more time to this, but getting you more information so this can be escalated is definitely on my to-do list.

Also, in my original post, in the "Example 1" screenshot, I don't know why so many games and DLC are showing as removed (only Anthem Legion of Dawn Edition should show as removed). This occasionally happens (maybe 2-4 times a year); I'll get a notice in EA app that several games and DLC that shouldn't have been removed have been removed. And if I restart EA app, these games haven't been permanently removed, and I no longer get notice of their removal.

EA app, March 24, after restart: EA-app-March-24-B.png (2560×1440)

Edit: The following morning of March 25, I only had 88 games show up (3 installed, which is currently correct; 85 additional in library, which is short several titles). This time the missing games did not have an alphabetical pattern, but instead were from the same series. All Crysis games in my library were missing (both the original trilogy, as well as the remastered trilogy), with the exception of Crysis Warhead, which was present. When I went to order history, my transactions in the last 30 days showed up, but when I changed the order history filter from "Last 30 days" to "All", the page initially stated, "No transaction history". Then after about 30 seconds, the transaction history loaded in. After the order history page loaded in with all transactions, I was able to locate Crysis Trilogy and Crysis Trilogy Remastered in my order history.

Thanks for the update - that’s actually a really useful find.

The alphabetical cutoff (everything showing up to “The” and then nothing after) + the fact that those missing titles are still in your order history pretty much confirms this isn’t anything on your end. It looks like the app is only loading part of your library in some sessions rather than missing specific entitlements.

The Sims 4 DLC behaving the same way lines up with that too - it’s likely the same issue, just affecting a different part of the library.

Also, good call checking order history - that helps rule out anything actually being removed from your account.

At this point, the main thing that would help is catching it in the act when you have time:

    • Next time it happens, grab the time it occurred
    • Note where the cutoff is (like you did with “The Sims 2”)
    • and a couple of examples of games that are missing but should be there

If you do end up pulling logs later, when you have time, feel free to share them as well, but no rush on that.

Appreciate you sticking with this and gathering details -- this is exactly the kind of info that helps narrow it down.

EA_Leeuw I just edited that post this morning with new information before I saw your reply. This morning I had another occurrence of missing entitlements, but they were not matching an alphabetical pattern, but were from the same series, Crysis (Crysis trilogy & Crysis trilogy remastered), with the exception of Crysis Warhead, which was still present. My order history in the last 30 days did show up, but when I changed the order history filter from "Last 30 days" to "All", it initially said "No transaction history", then after 20-30 seconds the full order history loaded in. I just tried a session reset (logged out of EA app, ended EABackgroundService in Task Manager, waited over 60 seconds, then logged back in).

Thanks for the update -- that actually adds an important piece.

The Crysis example, plus what you saw with order history initially showing “no transactions” and then loading after ~20–30 seconds, points in the same direction: things aren’t consistently loading all at once, rather than specific entitlements being missing.

So instead of just a “cutoff” issue, this now looks more like partial or delayed loading of your account data in some sessions, which would explain:

    • Different subsets missing at different times (not always alphabetical)
    • DLC counts fluctuating
    • Order history briefly appears empty before populating

Good call trying the session reset as well -- useful to know whether that changes how often it happens.

When you get a chance, the most helpful thing now is just catching one clean example:

    • The time it happens
    • A couple of titles are missing (like you did with Crysis)
    • Then, confirming they come back after a restart

Also, please collect & share the mentioned logs please.

EA_Leeuw The session reset didn't revolve it (I also changed my DNS provider back to Cloudflare shortly after my previous post earlier today). It happened again this evening around 6:20-6:22 PM CDT (23:20-23:22 UTC, 2026-March-25); Crysis trilogy (Crysis 1-3) & Crysis trilogy remastered (Crysis 1-3 Remastered), excluding Crysis Warhead, which was present, are the games missing again this time around, with the additional loss of Commander & Conquer 2 and Yuri's Revenge, Crusader: No Regret, and Crusader: No Remorse. Sorry I didn't get an exact time, but I logged in here to reply after it happened again, and realized I should have checked the time before doing so. I will just start keeping as precise a log as possible when it happens. These 9 titles did return after restarting, and are all located together in my library, as shown in the first screenshot in this post.

Also, Mirror's Edge is still refusing to launch (second screenshot included). I need to go through my library and figure out which games are refusing to launch at this point. Mass Effect: Andromeda is among them, but I believe Mass Effect 3 is also this way, and maybe one or two more.

EA_Leeuw I found my post from the Origin to EA app transition thread: Purchased game/DLC available on Origin but not the EA app | EA Forums - 7576339. That post was originally longer, but I removed some games as issues were resolved (e.g., Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords initially installed in the wrong language after the transition to EA app, but that was resolved after being reported), and I also removed several of the older games from that list which had issues if installed to another drive than the system drive, since I could still get them to work if installed to the system drive.

As part of this current report, I would like to go through the entirety of my library and see which games & DLC are inoperable via EA app as of 2026 (entitlements which previously worked on this same system via Origin), but it probably won't be until after April 15 before I have an opportunity to do that.

One thing I noticed is that when more games than usual are missing, that is also when I get more games and DLC showing in EA app's Removed Games notice than should be there. Also, most of the games and DLC listed in Removed Games aren't titles I tried via EA Play at one point and then later purchased (some of them I owned before I ever used EA Play), so I'm not sure why they would show as removed. • April 1, 2026 2:45 PM (2026-April-1 19:45) | 33 missing | Usually missing games are from the "My games" section of the Library, but sometimes they include "Installed" games as well. -- "Installed" missing: Mirror's Edge; Need for Speed (Deluxe Edition) -- "My games" missing: Command & Conqueror Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge; Crusader: No Regret; Crusader: No Remorse; Crysis; Crysis 2 (Maximum Edition); Crysis 2 Remastered; Crysis 3 (Digital Deluxe Edition); Crysis 3 Remastered; Crysis Remastered; Mass Effect: Andromeda (Super Deluxe Edition); Mass Effect Legendary Edition; Medal of Honor (Limited Edition); Medal of Honor Airborne; Medal of Honor Pacific Assault; Medal of Honor Warfighter (Digital Deluxe Edition); Medal of Honor: Allied Assault; Mirror's Edge Catalyst; Need for Speed SHIFT; Need for Speed Carbon (Collector's Edition); Need for Speed Heat (Deluxe Edition); Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered; Need for Speed Most Wanted; Need for Speed Payback (Deluxe Edition); Need for Speed Rivals (Complete Edition); Need for Speed The Run (Limited Edition); Nox; Peggle; Peggle Nights; Plants vs. Zombies; Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 (Deluxe Edition); Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville (Founder's Edition)

Typically when games are missing from my library, these absences occur in contiguous blocks. Using the most recent occurrence as an example, Command & Conqueror Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge through Crysis Remastered is a contiguous block in my library. Medal of Honor (Limited Edition) through Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville (Founder's Edition) is another contiguous block [this second block includes Mirror's Edge and Need for Speed (Deluxe Edition) from the "Installed" section]. The only titles not fitting that pattern this time around are Mass Effect: Andromeda (Super Deluxe Edition) and Mass Effect Legendary Edition.

My EA Error Reporter ID is bc588052-b37c-4017-abce-f3987111c06c. The requested logs are attached as a ZIP archive. There was a delay between the incident, writing this up, and getting the Error Reporter ID and archiving the logs (but I didn't restart EA app), so I can do this again in a more timely manner during the next error if needed.
