Following the procedure given to report cheat with EA desktop I receive an error "Can't open Origin Overlay"Being a Gamepass user I can't user Origin to launch the game, so the only way to try to report someone is to alt+tab to EA desktop and manually look for the cheating user.Really hard and nearly impossible to use when the reported player has ID like IlIIIIIllllIIlllIII with random capital i and minus L.Would like to help you to get that cheaters so is this overlay issue going to be fixed or do we have to wait for BF6 ?Thanks

@EA_Jason How can we report cheaters and people being racist via that link when we cannot decipher their names? I just had almost the exact same scenario happen to me just a little while ago. Someone with an unreadable name was being racist and griefing our team in Battlefield V. Since I use EA Desktop from Xbox Game Pass I have no ability to report players in game, and the name this person was using is impossible to make out due to the characters used.Why is there not a reporting function built directly into the game? Why does it rely on an overlay for software that doesn't work with Xbox Game Pass for PC? Battlefield V has been out for almost 3 years and is definitely not in beta anymore.

I was able to report the player in question via the out of game reporting page offered through the EA Help website. However, I just got an email from an EA game advisor telling me they have received my report, but in the future not to use the reporting function that I used and to report players in game instead. I made sure to mention in my initial report that I was only using the out of game method due to Battlefield V not having an in game reporting function when playing it via Xbox Game Pass for PC.So I don't understand why I was told not to use the website to report players. It has a specific page dedicated to reporting players for harassment, so that's what I used since there is no way to do it in game. You guys at EA Help make things needlessly confusing for your customers.

@Beneffit There is still an option, if you are willing to go the long route to report them. You can go on this BFV stats page: https://battlefieldtracker.com/ There search for your own ingame name. On your own stats page, there is a tab called "Game Reports", where you will find a summery for every round you played. Go to the one where you encountered the person you want to report and look for their name.

EA Desktop is still in Beta and we're always on the lookout to implement more features. If the feature isn't available right now, then it might be something that we add in the future.

For now I can suggest keeping an eye on our Trello Board for updates and reading through this article to find other ways to report cheaters:

As the title says, I came across someone that needed to be reported earlier and when I went to report them, the game told me I needed to use the Origin overlay. How can I use the Origin overlay if I don't have Origin installed? I'm using the EA Desktop app. This means if you play the game via Xbox Game Pass for PC there is no way to report players in game. Origin doesn't recognize the EA Play membership you get from Xbox Game Pass for PC, so using Origin is not an option.
Are there plans to address this and put an actual reporting function directly in the game? I can't believe it's not already a built in feature for as long as this game has been out.

It looks like you are out of luck for now. For now you will have to report them outside the game. For example you can create a case at https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/ and report them that way manually. However, that is quiet tedious.

@N4v1s Thanks for the info but by the time I was out of the game I had no idea what the persons username was. It was one of those with a bunch of capital I's and lower case L's mixed in with numbers. No way I could tell what it said out of the game. And since we have no recent players list in game, it's impossible to report them now. They were being racist and harassing people.

@N4v1s That's quite a ridiculous process to report someone in a game. There should be a built in reporting feature directly in the game. Oh well, thanks for the answers. Have a good one.

@Beneffit No worries. As stated in the linked thread, the EA Desktop is still a beta version. Using unfinished software will always have some drawbacks. Hopefully, it won´t take to long to bring essential functionallities to the app like reporting other players.

@Beneffit That´s what they are telling me everytime I use this way of reporting. :D
I keep doing it and it seems like they are actually investigating these reports, because I have seen those players being banned. I would guess, that they don´t like us using this way of reporting, because it takes them the extra step of sending us an answer. However, as long as we are not getting a reasonable way of reporting players in game, I´m gonna keep doing it.
