@Carbonic EOS does not mean EOL. Besides, updates are just a way for Microsoft to break the OS. I haven't had my Windows fully updated for a long time, and my account is doing just fine. I'm sure that with an adblocker and a decently up to date browser, someone with even Windows 7 RTM could do just fine.

Ban people from playing their games, which run perfectly fine on Windows 7???Origin and EA Desktop should still support not just 7 but XP or at least have some legacy installer so people can download games they bought.

Windows 7 has reached end of life. New software, like gaming clients, really should not support it as no security updates to Windows 7 would mean the system is prone to malware etc. which can be used to hack EA accounts. I would not be too optimistic about this "bug" being a priority.

Microsoft litterallly defines the ending of a Windows product lifecycle as ending when it's no longer supported. Pretty much making End of Service and End of Life the same thing so no need to hassle over the semantics.

That some people with Windows 7 could keep it safe enough or be lucky enough to not have security issues does not really fix the issue with many others wasting the time with EA support because they were hacked due to running Windows 7.

Besides, development of EA Desktop will probably go a lot quicker if legacy support like Windows 7 and Windows 8 was dropped. I know it sucks for the people out there that don't want to use Windows 10 for their gaming but it's hard to deny developing for Win7/8 does not make that much sense anymore.

@Carbonic The beta is win32 and runs on 8.1, I doubt it'd take even an hour to fix the client.
Also, you're so sure about many people running Windows 7 getting hacked and contacting EA support, yet you don't work for EA, so you can't confirm this.

Thanks for telling it runs on 8.1, was not aware of that. I don't think it should but that's just my personal opinion ofc. I would rather have Linux support as that is getting security patches actually.

And yes, I don't have any concrete data as I don't work for EA - all I have is a guesstimate based on the posts I see around the internet.

@Carbonic Never tested the beta, still haven't gotten the download in my email. Just asked a friend to test on 8.1, and it ran.
Also, just like Ubuntu 18.04, Windows 8.1 still gets security updates

I Have a dual boot with both Windows 7 and 10, but I hope they can provide support for 7 as well.
