Game installation 'something went haywire'

Product: The EA app
Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post)
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Launch Game

Summarize your bug So yesterday I bought Dead Space (2023). Downloaded the game straight away and after a 90 min install I got into the game and played for an hour. I log on again today, eager to pick up where I left off... This is where the fun begins. To start, the game is not listed underneath my 'installed games' menu. Weird. I contact EA support on chat and on the phone and spend over an hour going in circles and getting nowhere. SO, I decide to reinstall the game. Surely that will work? Nope, after waiting another 90 minutes I then get an error message to tell me 'Something went haywire' and 'Please try again later'. No context. No explanation. Seriously, this is ridiculous. The EA App does not work. I've wasted money on a product I cannot play and my Saturday going up the wall with support (who are awful btw). Is there anything I can do? Anyone having the same issue?
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try launching a game from your joke of an app.
What happens when the bug occurs? Installation fails with zero context given.
What do you expect to see? The ability to play my game that I've paid for.

  • Restarted the app and now the error has gone full-circle. Dead Space (2023) no longer appears on the 'Installed Games' list and the app prompts me to re-download even though the game is installed on my machine.

Huge waste of a day messing around on this.

Guys.. the plot thickens... it looks like when I reinstalled the game it has somehow become corrupted.

This means I cannot uninstall this game (which I can't launch on the EA app) in the normal way.

I really need some help here.

@welshmandan8  I don't think I can help with the original issue beyond suggesting you check your antivirus to see whether it's flagged the game in some way.  Maybe someone else will have a suggestion on that front.  But for uninstalling, download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and point it at Dead Space.  Make sure to go through the list of files and folders it finds in case you want to preserve a save.

Thanks for your advice mate, managed to uninstall it in the end.

Had to redownload and install again then it worked fine for a few days... now it's bugged out again and I'm facing the original issue AGAIN.

Something is really wrong here. So frustrating.... and nothing from EA I see. Fantastic service guys.

@welshmandan8  That sounds like it might be an antivirus issue, so I'd start looking there.  If that's not it, perhaps you use a cleaner app that's flagging some essential file as a duplicate and deleting it.
