How do I bypass the EA App and just play my games?

Product: The EA app
Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post) What sticky post?
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Other (Please Describe)
Please describe Library
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 20.04.23 20:31
Summarize your bug The EA App won't load my library.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Launch the EA App.
What happens when the bug occurs? I am given an empty library.
What do you expect to see? The games for which I've paid.

I've tried restarting my PC, restarting the app, and clearing the app cache.

This has been happening for a number of days, and it's unacceptable. I've paid to own my games, but the awful app is preventing me from playing them. EA has taken my money, yet revoked access to the product for which I have paid. As far as I'm concerned, they're in violation of the UK Sale of Goods Act 1979.
The launcher does nothing except prevent me from playing and advertise other games for me to buy - which I now absolutely refuse to ever do again; having no confidence that I'll ever actually be able to play them.

I don't want to be gatekept by EA App, I don't want to be gatekept by Origin.
I just want to run my games by double clicking an exe. Please can somebody advise a way to bypass the EA app?
I'd be so very grateful for any advice you can share!

  • @EA_Barry@EA_Illium@EA_ShepardYou really should look into this problem which has been reported by me and now quite a few/many others. If memory serves at least one of you actually promised to do so, too. I created a new case as per requested, but it was immediately closed as "duplicate case". This disrespectful and shameful behavior at EA Help has to stop.

I have spent 20 Hours of my time trying to figure this out instead of playing my game. Since I have no programing skills, I can't fix this issue. However, I have hopefully found a work around. This worked yesterday and it worked today.

I have attached 2 pictures for reference.

After opening the EA App, open your task manager (I am using Windows 10 I don't know how this will look in Windows 7 or 11) and find EA. There should be 2 or 3 tasks running. Keep this open and close the App the normal way. You will see that The EA Background Service is still running. Use End Task to shut it down. Restart the App and the issue should Be gone. At least until Next time. Which for me is the next day. I hope this Helps others as it helped me.

I am Off to my game.

    Happy Playing Everyone.

  • Just here to share the hate for EA and their garbage app. If it worked i wouldn't be here

  • If you live in the united states this is slightly annoying but fully legal to do.

step 1: buy a cd of sims 4 off any reseller

step 2: under US law if you own a physical copy of digital media you are allowed to make copies of it and use those copies on any device so long as it is for your personal use only and you are not sharing them (i.e. if you are playing it yourself on your own computer not giving copies to friends or streaming it to the public) and under current legal precedents it is while not explicitly stated but generally agreed that the sharing of copies is the crime in piracy not the receiving if the receiver has a physical copy. So find a ROM that is jail broken (under US law so long as you are not reverse engineering it you are allowed to modify code you purchased for personal use) and play that

step 3: Thank the ghost of Mr.Rogers because his expert opinion to the supreme court and congress on a case between publishers and betamax is what is cited as tipping the court's opinion in the favour of the consumer and what further lead to the passage of laws protecting our rights as consumers in regards to digital media.

  • Was this fixed because I'm having the same issue. After all this EA has broke my trust and their Customer support is ever * than the freaking app!! I can't play the games I paid for what more can I ask for.

I feel you misunderstood, he answered. By not answering, he told you that EA does not care about you using something you purchased under an agreement that you have have access to the material once it was in your possession. They told you that you are not worth their time to actually look into the issue. They told you that you have no choice but to use them for these products so you can go f* yourself with a dried out cactus. They do not care, because they have a monopoly on their products. They know that if they told you that you would have to murder family to use their products, enough people would, to pay their bills. They have zero morals and zero ethics. You assumed when you asked the question they gave a damn about you or the rest of us. They don't. He answered you, EXACTLY how EA wanted him to answer, by spitting in your face and attempting to speak down to you, as if you hadn't actually tried the basics. They hate their customers, and show their disdain for us at every opportunity. Be it this horrendously designed launcher system, destroying decades of game canon just to con fans of a game franchise that they  purchased, because they saw a cash grab, not a successful franchise. If I were going to use metaphors I would say the game industry has been taken over by the minions of Hell, and EA is lucifer himself, while the rest of the developers are all on there knees waiting for them to give it to them the way they like, before finding as many customers to return that favor to as possible. To answer your initial question, have you attempted to use any "independently developed" patches that allow games to run without calling home? I have found some of those for some of the more annoying games, especially the ones I like to play if my internet goes out, because, don't forget, you don't own your game if you don't have internet to confirm you still own the same game you owned last time you played it.

I should NOT have to log into your STUPID app to play the physical copy of my game that I paid $50 for! I shouldn't have to have internet to play my game offline when I have the disk! EA is straight TRASH now! Good job you EVIL GREEDY **bleep** !
