PC_inst-3-1920 Error - EA APP unable to update and install

I´m really getting annoyed by the continous EA App and Patch Errors this company delivers. I´ve never had problems in the last 25 Years with any of the other companies apps - Steam, Ubi, Epic etc., only EA is taking me whole weekends and weeks to fix the bugs. The start of BF6 and the patch afterwards have been a desaster.

Setup:

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D 16-Core Processor (4.30 GHz), 64GB Ram,  NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 (16 GB),

Windows 11 Pro

I´m experiencing this now for over a week, first the app popped up upon launching the computer and told me, that the update doesn´t work. One time the app loaded, I purchased the new bf6 pro season and played. Yesterday nothing worked for me.

I´ve been trying several things now, to get this up and running.

  • tryed to repair the app - didn´t work
  • deinstalled the app and swiped the leftover files and tried to install new - didn´t work
  • putting the app in the ms defender preventing problems with the firewall - nothing happened
  • clearing the cache with the EA Tool
  • loading the eabackroundservice manually
  • trying the EAUpdater
  • starting the Programs with admin
  • following all this

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0Uz-4TWra0&t=254s

  • installed the newest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable
  • I took an image from 18.07.26, which I made and I tried this 2 times to get the app working again - nothing. I don´t know, what to do now. Hoping the next patch will fix all of this and not playing? wow...

    Hi James_Welling ,

Thanks for listing everything you have already tried. The PC_inst-3-1920 error has a specific meaning: the EA app’s game-management background service was installed but could not start. The error therefore points to the EA app service or its Windows environment, rather than your PC’s gaming hardware or a Battlefield 6 graphics issue.

You can find the official error description here:

    EA app error codes: INST-3-1920

Since you have already reinstalled the app, cleared its cache, checked the firewall, manually tested the background service, updated Visual C++, and restored an earlier system image, repeatedly running the same reinstall process is unlikely to provide us with any new information.

Please try one controlled installation from a Windows clean-boot environment. This temporarily prevents non-Microsoft background programs and services from interfering with the EA app installer:

How to clean boot your computer

After starting Windows in the clean-boot environment:

    1. Delete the existing EA app installation folder if it is still present:

    C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop

    1. Restart the installation using a newly downloaded installer:

    Download the EA app

Official EA app installation and update instructions

EA’s installation guide specifically recommends deleting files left in the EA app installation directory before restarting a failed installation.

If PC_inst-3-1920 still appears during the clean-boot installation, please submit an EA Error Report so the relevant installer and service information can be captured. You can use the Error Reporter even when the EA app will not open:

How to use the EA Error Reporter

On Windows, search for EA Error Reporter from the Start menu. If it is still installed, you can also find it in:

    C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop

Please keep the Report ID shown after submitting the report and add it to your reply here.

It would also help to attach the EA app log files from both of these folders:

    %localappdata%\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\Logs

    C:\ProgramData\EA Desktop\Logs

Instructions for locating and submitting those files are included in the Error Reporter article above.

Please also attach a current DxDiag:

How to create a DxDiag report

Waiting for another Battlefield 6 patch is unlikely to address this particular error because the failure is occurring while Windows attempts to start the EA app’s background service, before the game or its patch can be launched. The Report ID and logs are now the most useful next step for identifying why that service cannot start.
