In Origin, you're supposed to be able to open The Sims 3 in your game library, and there should be an Extra Content or Expansions tab where you can see all of the expansions including the ones you own for download... It's not there. Like it doesn't exist. The ONLY tab in The Sims 3 is "Friends Who Play". That's it. So it is completely impossible to access expansion packs that you paid money for in Origin. If you go to the expansions in the store and click View in Library, it just takes you to the base game's panel.
Ah but I know what you're thinking. "Did you try the EA App?" Oh boy did I. I downloaded the EA App and did indeed find that The Sims 3 was there with the ability to not only view all of the DLC, but you could even right click the game to view only the Expansions you owned. And with DOWNLOAD BUTTONS! So I then clicked to download the game and found that it even included an option to download all of the extra content you owned with the base game all at the same time. Wow, such convenience. I do that. It then completes oddly quick and throws an error at me saying "Something went Haywire". I close out of the EA App and reopen it to find the base game installed and launchable, however when I open to view DLC that I own, they all show greyed out "Downloading" buttons. Pretty sure nothing was being downloaded.
I then had to completely reinstall the EA App to get those buttons unstuck from "Downloading". I then uninstalled The Sims 3 thinking "Why don't I just get the base game fresh by itself and then download the expansions one by one. Surely it was the download all feature that was busted." So I did that. Base game downloaded and installed perfectly. I open up the DLC list, click the green Download button next to the Ambitions expansion.... What do you think happened? Do you think it started downloading? Ohohoh come on now of course it didn't. The button went from green to grey... That's it. I close the mini window and reopen and its green again. I click it again and it goes grey. The download buttons LITERALLY DON'T DO ANYTHING! Other than change colors of course.
So anyways I look over to Need for Speed: Heat and also notice that the EA App doesn't even recognize that I have already bought the Deluxe edition. At that point I uninstalled the EA App and reinstalled Origin since that at least recognizes that I own the things I paid for.
And now I'm waiting for a refund, which of course will probably take several weeks rather than 24-48 hours since we're dealing with EA rather than Steam.
